The studio version of Cyanide: Metallica.com And the premiere of the Music Video of The Day That Never Comes: TDTNC Video
The rumor is that a small record shop in France began selling the album early and sold out of them. There have been pictures posted of the album artwork and booklet and CD. I would imagine it will be on your favorite torrent sites by this evening. Over on MetallicaBB.com and on the Metallica.com message boards all posts bringing this issue up are being deleted within minutes...this is the same thing that happened when St. Anger leaked in 2003. So, we should be hearing it all soon... if you wish to. I've already pre-ordered mine from Amazon. So, I wont feel guilty. Theyre on Youtube...hope that isnt blocked at your job. Some of my friends jobs have blocked Youtube...
Pretty much any media that is streamed is blocked. So Youtube was probably first on their list when they did it. Every once in a while I'll find a site they haven't thought of yet...but it can be quite a search.
Sometimes, it rules being right. It is out there for your listening pleasure...and early listens have me ready to give a glowing review...
Rodrick, cant wait to hear what you think of the new album, since you and I have been the ones who have kept this thread going (mostly...no disrespect meant Raven ). Cyanide is probaly the worst or 2nd worst song on the entire album. This is the album I exrected to hear in 1991 instead of the black album. Most of the album is straight up thrash. Rubin looks to have saved these guys. Very happy with this album.
Now that is metal! I'll be going to see the Metallica show, but I'll be going to see Down! I'll more than likely leave after they play.
Okay, now that I'm home and can listen to this track...I take back my former statement about Metallica's potential now. They still have it, if they want it. That Cyanide song ****ING ROCKS. Awesome, awesome stuff. I liked The Day that Never Comes and Death Magnetic pretty well, but I didn't feel those songs in my guts. THIS song. THIS song I feel it. I hope the rest of the album is this great.
Raven, what if I told you that Cyanide is actually one of the weaker songs on the album? With Metallica, I know it is all about opinions. But in mine, Cyanide is pretty forgettable after you have heard the rest of the album. No way is 85-90% of this stuff going to be on the radio. Straight up thrash. Happy Days ahead for long time Metallica fans.
Metallica finally delivers a great album. It's quite long but there isn't a bad song on the disc. My only complaint is the clipping and distortion from the loudness factor. Rick Rubin is regarded as the best producer out there yet his biggest albums including Slayer and The Red Hot Chili Peppers all sound terrible. It's hard to rank them based off of one listen each so i'll list my top 3. All Nightmare Long The Judas Kiss Broken, Beat and Scarred
Man, Chuck 4 is to Metallica as: ima is to The Police Surfguy is to Rush RM95 is to DMB Seriously, I still blast And Justice For All from my iPod all the time. Looking forward to reading (and listening) to this whole thread when I get home tonight. It would be nice if they really were "back".
Thanks....I think, lol. The thing is, that I had completely lost faith in them ever getting their swagger back. I was hopeful when Rick Rubin signed on, but wasnt holding my breath. Truth is, Megadeth has supplanted them in my opinion. I think many "80's thrash fans" had begun to feel that way. Metallica has always prided themselves in saying that they "Dont give a F*** what people think." But I am sure they hear some of these criticisms and decided the time was never better to make a comeback. And, by god, I think theyve pulled it off. Drummer, If youre like me and you dig And Justice For All, youre in for a real treat with this album. This sounds like the record that should have come out after Justice in 1991. Hope you like it as much as I am. JPM, All Nightmare Long is my favorite at the moment. I also really like That Was Just Your Life (How can someone not?) and Broken, Beat & Scarred (SHOW.YOUR.SCARS!). I dont think they could have made a better album. Better production? Sure. But I have come to expect it with Rubin. The guy is a genius, but he did it with Slayer, The Peppers, and several others. Louder doesnt always equal better.
Theres a presale right now on The Buzz front page. The BUZZ.com Im gonna wait for the AMEX presale on Monday though. They usually have better seats. I remember for the...well, I wont say what concert it was, AMEX had a much better presale offer. Usually cheaper, too. Just an FYI.
I would say our musical taste probably differs slightly when it comes to Metallica, then. Unless you think that it is stronger than The Day That Never Comes or Death Magnetic, both of which thrashed harder than Cyanide, but were not nearly as catchy or feel as fluid, musically. That's fine, I enjoyed both those other two songs, I was just hoping the whole thing wasn't to that level because that would crush my hopes that they have returned to form. Cyanide gave me that hope back. I'll probably break down tonight and download the full album for a listen. I vowed a while back to stop doing that, but I know that I'll be buying this CD the day it comes out, so it really isn't that big a deal. I was kind of hoping that Metallica, being the way they are towards piracy, would just decide to bump up the release of their album to today or tomorrow to combat those downloading illegally from the French store that broke the date...but I suppose that isn't going to happen.
