James Hetfield is too busy building fences and ruining the area he lives in for others to make good music any more. First Napster, now his neighborhood. http://www.marinij.com/marinnews/ci_10233894
this is the first chance i've had to speak on the song.... man it's awesome. the drums on this song alone are better than anything that st anger produced. his voice on this song is different... almost a "mama said" from the load album sound to it. the solo kicks, not to blaspheme but as a whole it reminds me of the megadeth song hanger 18 in the way it builds up to the end.
The more I listen to it, the less I am liking it (after hearing it on the radio the other night). Seriously, they used to rock it out in their thrashing sequences and now, it's just....really dumbed down, like they are not even trying to do anything creative. I compared this one to Bleeding Me a page or two back. Bleeding Me is definitely better....alot better.
Another new song up on their website. My Apocalypse on Metallica.com "Cross That Line!!!" I like James vocals on this.
I do see similarities. That shouldn't be too surprising. Rick Rubin produced their albums as well. Hetfield sounds great as well. There are a handful of albums i've been waiting to hear. This has moved to the top of my list.
While I agree on the 3 for 3, the only thing I would change is the drum sound. Still to damned loud. Perhaps it wont sound like that on the disc. We will see real soon! This has been and is now even more so on the top of my list of albums to get this year. Just for grins, here is my list of my top 5 albums to get this year, in preference order. 1 - Metallica: Death Magnetic 2 - Guns N' Roses: Chinese Democracy (IF it actually does come out...) 3 - Trivium: Shogun 4 - Slipknot: All Hope is Gone (Got it. Pretty damned good...) 5 - Oasis: Dig Out Your Soul Other than the New DragonForce sucking, pretty good year for new albums, IMO.
so is there any coincidence that megadeth will be releasing a best of the week after death magnetic is release?
Where do you get the MP3 version of these songs? I presume these are the CD quality versions mentioned earlier in the thread. Is this a torrent thing or is it being made legally available somewhere?
Apparently there are some in the Metallica community that have detected some clipping and distortion on both "the day that never comes" and "my apocolypse". I didn't hear it on my stereo but didn't notice some on my car cd player. The two tracks are extremely loud. If you put them into any type of audio editing software you can see they are TOO loud and are clipping. Metallica said they found the problem which occured in mastering (Duh!) and will have it corrected for the album.
The reviews are starting to pour in (All positive, thus far)... The Quietus Track by Track Review The Terrorizer Review Music Radar Review Beginning to become more difficult not to be excited...
taking off the 37 days thread..... 11 days until the release! i don't particularly care how many people said the last album sucked, this is a good song. <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/9GEciB8Xdw0&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/9GEciB8Xdw0&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>
