Sad part is that a star can sign 50 autpgraphs and the 51st person who leaves empty handed will have a bad impression of the star.

That is an unfortunate truth, for sure. But what about not signing 50 out of 50 walking out on the street when no cameras are present, following an event?

    1) He's breaking his contract
    2) Maybe he doesn't feel like signing
    3) He's not obligated to do it

It happens all the time. What makes it even worse is when the player signs but can't do it for everyone and then people start cursing them out or talking trash. Then they wonder why the guy doesn't want to sign autos anymore.

    I hadn't heard that.

What did I miss? That just seems as random as saying "D-Brick is an ass".

Who signed the contract? People have every right to bemoan that practice. No matter who the player is. Remember the outcry regarding VY charging for autographs after he declared?

Well, I don't expect players to sign autographs if they don't want to, but they have to realize that people will take offense to that. I'm going to help pay Bush's salary next year by buying some season tickets. If I see him on the street and he won't even acknowledge me if I ask for an autograph, I have the right to be peeved.

Of course he's not. But we all appreciate players who show some appreciation to the fans that are responsible for him being able to be set for life financially by playing a game.

GTSM has him to an exclusive. I think it's for 5 years. The people who were complaining about VY charging for autographs were wrong as well. Most every star player does it.

That's true. My bet would be that if you saw Reggie on the street and there wasn't a big crowd (like 5 or 6 people) he would sign for you 9 out of 10 times. He's 2 for 2 when I've seen him (and he had that contract in place).

Reggie will sign when he can. Like I said, I've only seen it twice but he did both times. Either way, it's not a huge deal to me. A lot of athletes would suprise you. LeBron is made out to be this great guy but he is a complete prick. Reggie isn't that way (at least not in my experience). Neither is Vince on a side note

I love the sense of entitlement we have. Somebody's a jerk if he won't sign an autograph, but I'm not a jerk if I lied trying to get it out of him! Priceless!!

I saw VY and a bunch of other Horns at the Yellow Rose,
VY smiled at me on the way out! The dude is cool.

If that's true that Bush didn't give you an autograph then he sucks.

You got to realize, people from Texas are nicer than people from California.

When I was a kid, Dream and Calvin Murphy signed my ticket stub.

Wasnt there a story where Shaq disliked David Robinson because he never gave him an autograph when he was kid?? I remember Shaq saying that Dream was so nice to him, showed him some moves, gave him an autograph.. etc

See, I disagree. He's not paid $millions for being a nice guy or signing autographs every time someone asks. His paycheck--including the part of it you're funding by purchasing tickets and overpaying for beer--is for what he does on the field.

Not to mention, I wonder if the lion's share of people who approach a guy like that asking for a sig aren't starry-eyed, stalkers, people who lie to get the autograph, e-Bayers, or other irritants walking around in human clothing.

So if somebody doesn't sign an autograph for you then they suck? That is absolutely ridiculous.

I doubt David Robinson wouldn't sign an autograph. I've met that guy probably at least 20 times and he's always been one of the nicest people ever. The only thing he has is he won't sign right before a game (it's his superstition) but he'll sign any other time. In fact, the guy will sign two or three things at one time.

You're exactly right. This dudes been getting hit up for autographs all throughout his college career (probably by the same people). Most of them go out an sell it and these guys know that.

Good point on the dude lying to get an autograph but then complaining about Reggie's character.
