Christmas is awesome. It's absolutely my favorite time of the year....everything beginning from about late October until Christmas Day. I love it all. Merry Christmas to all!!
So, the family goes through opening a very few gifts. Then, bro and I go get the Samsung 46"LCD LED HDTV. We get it out of the SUV and bring it in parents house. You should have seen the resistance my father put up to it. First, he rejected it outright and said "take it back! take it back!". Then, he went into a spiel about how he has to pay for it and it's too much (umm...maybe being a parent for 45 years qualifies you for a splurge gift once in a while). Then, he tried to pay for half of it citing the economy and money concerns. Then, he put up the "I'll never be able to figure this all out" stuff. So much resistance from my father but we're used to it. He is quite the character. We even talked him into getting the HD DVR from his cable company even though he really just thought he needed the regular HD cable box. DVR is only $10 a month more. I'm happy to report at pretty much 10 hours later...he be simmer down now...and the TV is up connected to the new wireless router (Valet by Cisco). The TV came with a damn nice Samsung speaker bar with subwoofer and we mounted that. It is pretty nice for such a small footprint. We got him up on Netflix Watch Instantly. But, after a ton of resistance and watching the Cowboys game on his new TV (which didn't look half bad in 16x9 stretch mode), he was smitten I do believe. I got an iPad for X-mas even though we had a no gifts deal on the table. Obviously, it was broke. Plus, they were all feeling sorry for me cause I lost both my dogs and had a rough year overall. Hope ya'll had a good christmas. I just enjoyed hanging out all day and setting up the TV/router for my parents. It felt like old days when we all lived under the same roof...like peas and carrots. cya, Surf
