Interesting read...these guys take facts very seriously, but I suspect Tinman can dispute this regardless. Never heard the story in quite this fashion - what do ya'll think?
I think this has been discussed before, but yeah the Thorn story has been talked about before. I'd believe Thorn in this case. Clyde's missed a quadruple double by 1 "point" in 1 stat two times. The most incredible quadruple double that never was that I've ever read about was Larry Bird missing a quadruple double by 1 "point" in 1 stat, but he sat out the entire 4th quarter. Unreal.
I remember Kevin Willis missed a last second 3 that would have given Clyde the quadruple-double back in the blue jersey days. He was pretty old at the time.
i seem to remember him having several chances for the assist and everybody missed. didn't realize until looking just now that it was the first game of the season when barkley was suspended. he also missed a quadruple double by a rebound early in his career. he also had 7 turnovers in both games, so he was going for the unprecedented quintuple double.

It's believed that the same game discussed in that article is the closest anybody came to a quintuple double as Hakeem had 5 steals as well. Hakeem is also the all-time leader in "5x5's"; at least 5 points, 5 rebounds, 5 assists, 5 steals and 5 blocks in a game. He had 6. He and the otherwise worthless Andrei Kierelenko are the only players with a "6x5". According to Bill Simmons book, Hakeem is also the all-time leader in "stocks", steals + blocks.
i don't understand the question, i remember vividly the rockets tried to supe up the first quad and the league saying no, so dream just did it again. unbelievable player
I can't find the game you're talking about was it this one maybe? http://www.basketball-reference.com/boxscores/198510250NJN.html That's the only time Bird has come within 2 and I find it hard to believe he didn't play in the 4th of a close game. But look at this amazing game by my man Fat: http://www.basketball-reference.com/boxscores/198711240DEN.html That's a legit almost-quad, 13 Rebs by a 6 footer AND no playing time in the 4th lol.
