$10.50 (they charge $.50 on credit card transactions) and $3 for tip. However, this thread reminds me of a point someone made in the tipping thread a couple of weeks back. Why do we tip hair stylists when there is already a set price for the hair cut? You're essentially paying them $10 (or whatever) for them to cut your hair, and then another several dollars for, well...cutting your hair. Generally one pays for goods and then tips for service. When you really think about it, it's a bit strange to tip your hairstylist...
I tip because I have been going to the same barber for 5 years - and they know me (not personally, but by face) - and I don't want to piss them off b/c a bad haircut is something that won't fly well with my clients.
well you're also tipping for quality of service so if it's a bad haircut, tip is gonna be loose change from pocket, good haircut then 3 bucks if I got it on me
The girl that cuts my hair has gone up to $18. (And I usually throw in a $2 tip.) I think I'm going to find someone else. I've been hunting for an old barbershop.
I'm going bald ....Actually I can't find a place cheaper than $10 anywhere. You guys in Houston are lucky.
I go to a barbershop but it costs 15 bucks plus tip. Its right next to my house so I save on gas and they give me a killer fade.
Where is everyone getting these cheap haircuts? If you go to one of these sports clips places they are like $18 +tip. I'm not saying I'm happy about it, but the haircuts are decent, you can watch sports, and the places are everywhere. Of course, I don't know what a "fauxhawk" is, and I'm not going for the fade, nor do I crop it high and tight or anything, so maybe my guero mop hair is harder to cut, I dunno. Regardless, it starts at about $18 at Sportclips... granted, that is cut/wash, so maybe that's not so bad?
I have a problem. My hair grows in some weird patterns and changes directions that it grows in. I can't go to just a regular barber. I find one person and stick with them. My hair cut costs 40$ plus I usually tip $8.
$20 + $5 tip usually i've been going to the same person for 2+ years, so i tip her well. And I haven't found a clean place that cuts hair in the northern virginia/DC area for much cheaper.. so i found a good place and kept going
Well, I figure that the set price of the haircut includes quality, and it's basically their job not to F it up. I mean you can only make a simple, men's haircut so great. If it's a fancy girl's haircut with curling and highlighting and all that, then yeah I think it's good to tip since quality will vary so much from stylist to stylist.
$14 but I usually give $15 and don't bother with the change. I did get myself an Andis Outliner($35 off eBay) to line myself up 3x a week. Very useful to keep myself clean and also helps on those weeks when I can't make it to the barber for whatever reason.
I say this in every haircut thread, but….. How do you screw up a guys haircut? All I get done is “a #1 on the sides and back, short on top, blended in.” Seriously, how hard is that? Yet, for some strange reason, it’s hard as hell for me to find someone who can consistently pull this off without making me look like John Travolta in Saturday Night Fever (or Jim Carey in Dumb and Dumber…..) I used to go to Supercuts, but on the rare occasion that I find someone there that does it right, I never see her again. In fact, I never see the same person twice at Supercuts EVER. WTF??? I found someone at the barber shop at my work complex who does it right, but she charges $25. So now I’m forced to go to her once a month because at least she’s consistent. But $25 is WAY too much for a guys haircut. It shouldn’t be this hard to find someone to not screw up my EASY haircut. Rant over.
