What is the big deal about Rubio ? He's definately not worth an established player or two. He's 18 years old, skinny and a project. The only player to me in this draft worth losing an established player is Blake G and he's already a Clipper. The Rockets need an established superstar not some overseas project.

    I like Tyreke Evans.

I feel he will be elite in the NBA.

Have you seen him play? He seemed on par with Paul/Williams in the Olympics. He was driving on them at will.

If this is a win-now kind of move, then it has to be someone much more experienced like Harden. I wonder how Yao would react to trading a long-time teammate of his for an 18 year old international baller.

I don't think the Olympics is a great indicator of how a player will do in the NBA - at least not initially - but that being said, his skills seemed great from what little I saw.

so did sarunas jasikevicius....yes rubio is younger, higher ceiling , etc. than sarunas, but out of all scenarios out there, the olympics is the worst one when comparing talent going one on one. Deron williams looked like rafer at times. Wade looked better than Kobe. Different rules, players, styles, teams, etc.

Stop comparing Rubio to Chris Paul or Deron Williams. Start comparing him to Steve Nash. His ceiling are those MVP Steve Nash seasons which is pretty great. Remember if we did get this guy, it wouldn't be for athleticism. It would be for his distributing skills.

i dont believe he'll ever be as good of a shooter as nash....i see him as a nash/kidd mix....nash's game management, passing, below the rim offense, but with Kidd's shot and weaker pull up game.

Just me, but I'm not that huge on Rubio(Haven't really seen much of his videos. I do like DeMar DeRozan and Tyreke Evans.

I also like Brandon Jennings, but I have no idea how he would fit in our offense seeing that we have Lowry and Brooks.

Rubio is not slow footed. He's faster than most NBA guards. He would eb the second fastest player on the Rockets. This post reads to me as the typical "I believe any white guy is slow and non athletic and cannot play basketball" post. It's obviously not the post of someone who has ever seen Rubio play.

Please no, then you get a host of goofballs, for YEARS, making incredibly unwarranted Nash comparisons (see Spanoulis, V.). As others said, Nash is (and always has been) a deadeye shooter from distance, and was so even in his early "struggling" years, that skill sets him apart from a lot of other PGs. I mean the guy has had ONE season shooting under 40% (37% in the lockout short season) from range for his entire career. If Rafer Alston had shot that Steve Nash' worst ever seasonal % from range while he was here, we'd be mentioning him for all-NBA.

I don't think Rubio is a possibility here, but it's laughable that you can quantify Rubio's game vs. Nash's.

What were Nash's pers wherever the heck he was when he was 18?

I heard that Memphis wants the rockets to send McGrady and Battier to Memphis for the #2 plus fillers...

Just what I heard from somebody who has close ties to the team.

Me too. Just look at his body fakes when he's dribbling and he's murdering players with it... remind me of the young SF3

If that is true, it obviously would depend on the fillers... If they move Battier and McGrady, then it would seem like they would target a wing player (Harden?) with the #2 pick...

Also, we don't know how the Rockets feel about this counteroffer... I know McGrady is not a nice word around the building but I don't know if they would add Battier just to get rid of McGrady...

So. I guess the ball is in the Rockets court... Would you say so Classic?

Not sure. If the Rockets give up Battier then there could be a third team involved? I just heard Tmac and Battier and this was about 5 days ago. I'm surprised it is just now being mentioned.

Same case can be made for Patrick Mills. The difference is we wouldnt have trade as much to get him.

    excellent addition!

although the picks might be for sale, cash isn't enough. the grizz probably want out of a few bad contracts in order to part with the picks. i'm sure the knicks didn't like the idea of taking on contracts when they are trying to clear as much cap as possible.

while rumors are morey is interested in the #2 and possibly washington's #5, i doubt very much that there is anyone in the draft that he feels justifies taking on the likes of jaric, buckner, or even etan thomas from the wizards. he is from the 'moneyball' school after all.

no harm inquiring. i'm glad to see morey being aggressive. i just doubt that the #2 or the #5 for that matter is the best he can do with tmac's ending contract, or some of our young assets.
