According to Draft Express Rubio is about as good as you can get in the pick and roll game. I wonder if this is a case of Rockets brass being high on him as a player, but even higher on him as a player in Adelman's system. He's tall enough that I think he could probably play in the backcourt with Brooks. We'd be small, but not nearly as small as lowry/brooks. http://www.draftexpress.com/profile/Ricky-Rubio-1155/
Don't do it! This is one of the weakest drafts in years. We need a more established player. Its a good year to be out of the draft.
A weak draft class combined with the economic troubles of a lot of teams is exactly why the Rockets are looking to move up into the lottery. When demand is down, you buy.
Ricky Rubio would be great, I do not think we can get that 2nd pick from Memphis, but if we do, this team would be much better in a long run. Morey, get it done, I know you can do it.
I think Boston my have the best chance to land the 2nd pick... They could trade Rondo and some other players for the 2nd to draft Rubio. Then Memphis can trade Conley to Portland(rumor) for Travis Outlaw.
if tracy can get us a #2 pick right now, we should all pack our bags for him and send him off right away.
i can see why the griz want to deal the 2nd pick. i think picking a big man would be a priority for the griz. rubio is another back court player who is more suited at the point guard position. unless they plan on shipping conley away like they did with lowry. they also have OJ mayo who is also a bit undersized at the 2 guard position.
I doubt the Rockets include T-Mac in this deal. Memphis already got grief for trading Gasol for an expiring, and they'd get grief again for trading the #2 for another expiring. Plus, Morey can get somebody more proven than whoever it is at #2. If a deal is to be done I'm pretty sure Ron Artest is the key componenet. That and us taking back a bad contract. The Grizzlies will pass up on #2 because they have faith in Conley. It'll be the only reason.
Do it man! That Rubio kid is a perfect fit for the Rox. He is not extremely fast like Chris Paul, but his passing skills and handles are almost perfect. He is a stronger and taller version of Jose Calderon. In a team like Houston, where blue collar culture prevails, we need a pure distributor like him. TMac, Brooks and Ron hog the ball all the time, and that just does not mesh well with Adelman's philosophy. Unless you have Kobe, LBJ, or Wade in your team, bball should already be played like passing, passing and passing until the best shooting opportunity emerges.
You could trade Landry, Dorsey, and Barry for Darko and the 2nd pick. Griz save money and get some young big men, including Memphis favorite Dorsey. Rockets get a good back up for Yao and a potential star in Rubio.
Just how good is Rubio really? I wasn't blown away by his performance at the Olympics, but then I heard some reports that he was playing injured so I'm not sure how to judge him. Other than the two USA vs. Spain games, I haven't seen the guy play. He seems pretty crafty, but that's about it. Can someone please enlighten me?
Would yall do this trade? T-Mac, Aaron Brooks, Joey Dorsey and James White for Darko Milicic, Marko Jaric, Greg Buckner, Darrell Arthur and 2nd pick (Ricky Rubio) Houston gets rid of T-Mac and picks up a 7footer to back up Yao and a veteran point guard in Jaric and he also has some height. Memphis picks up a young Aaron Brooks who has already proved that he can play in the NBA and get T-Macs huge expiring contract so they could probably go a couple of ways with that. They also get Dorsey and White who are young players with potential. Then the Grizzlies have a choice of either having a very good and young PG duo or they can trade Conley like they having been planning for a while. If they do decide to trade Conley I see a trade like this happening Conley to the Warriors for the 7th pick (Jordan Hill) Grizzlies pick up the best power forward in the draft after Blake Griffin and the Warriors get Conley, a true point guard. Memphis Grizzlies Marc Gasol/Hamed Haddadi/Jeff Pendergraph (36th pick) Hakim Warrick/Jordan Hill/Joey Dorsey Rudy Gay/Quinton Ross/Darius Miles OJ Mayo/T-Mac/James White Aaron Brooks/Darren Collison(27th pick)/Mike Wilks Houston Rockets Yao Ming/Darko Milicic/Chuck Hayes Luis Scola/Carl Landry/Darrell Arthur Shane Battier/Gerald Green(FA signing)/Omri Casspi(Buy 26 pick from Bulls) Ron Artest/Von Wafer/Greg Buckner Ricky Rubio/Kyle Lowry/Marko Jaric
