UHHH Griffin's father is black and his mother is white. Either way I don't think it matters. You obviously haven't ever seen him play so go back to reading whichever website you get your info from. Griffin is a beast and will work his A$$ off to be the best he can be.
i'm not too impressed by Rubio. Last time I checked, athletic PGs with great physical attributes dominated games. Rose - great atheltisism Paul - Speed and just as athletic Deron - more athletic than most people think Aaron Brooks- Not dominant, but super fast rondo - Long arms, speed, etc. Parker - Speed Billups is the only other PG i can think of that isn't too athletic that is good and he is a beast in hieght and shooting. Rubio will be a bust in my opinion
The team need to make players happy if they want good chemistry! In fact, this is the reason why the grizzles want to sell the no.2 pick!
i dont believe if ever said he's great, i've said he could model his game after deke, although he may not be as good....i've said he could help houston now more than rubio....i've said rubio isn't a lock to be great and may struggle early on...but nothing about thabeet being great. From the very beginning i wrote thabeet would be a good pick up if landry was included in the trade. Thabeet can play 4 AND 5...landry can't play 5, so he was limited to 20 mins a game behind scola. If landry is gone, you can rotate thabeet at the 4/5...scola and yao start, yao sits and thabeet and scola pair up, then scola sits and thabeet and yao pair up and so on...chuck would also get some minutes at the 4...thabeet could easily get 25 mins at least, maybe 30 depending on how much we want to rest Yao... how many minutes do you expect rubio to get as a teenager with no NBA experience? I'm not sure why so much is made of thabeet "the back up center"...he's only going to be a back up because of Yao, that doesn't mean his ceiling is as a back up center. Same goes for Rubio, i dont see him starting over lowry or brooks within 2 years, so why aren't we calling him a back up too? Both will be back ups for a while and both can eventually be starters. If we're calling thabeet a waste at the 2 because he's gonna back up, then rubio's in the same boat.
He will be playing for a championship contender with a chance to learn from arguably the best center in the NBA... he will be happier than playing for a team trying to stay out of the lottery in some small market town. Actually I think that Rondo is a good comparison with Rubio, similar body size and long arms, speed etc. The only thing is, Rubio has CRAZY court vision and instincts... Rondo doesn't. Kidd and Stockton weren't athletic freaks either and had much longer careers than these guys who rely on athleticism will. Oh, and they were pretty good PG's too.
I don't get it....why does ANY of u want thabeet for us if we got the 2nd pick??? OKC are barely looking at him and look at THEIR SITUATION compared to ours...they have no legit C at all, need a defensive presence BADLY......have no shotblocker anywhere on the roster..........have a big hole in the middle.... and I dont see them wanting thabeet at all...
RV6, If the rockets can get Rubio, he will be the starting pg before the all-star break. He is that good!
He will be the starter from day ONE. by that I mean summer league...preseason...regular season... because one of our current PGs will be in the trade for him. most likely aaron brooks. the guys trade value is freckin HOT right now...and imagine if we traded lowry back to memphis...haha
Aside from your historically awful player forecasting track record - this is a perfect argument to draft Thabeet (who will be a nice defensive center who can also run the floor, and won't cost a ton of $$$) adn then trade Yao for a player or players who better fit that system rather than to wait 3years for Rubio to develop so that he can bounce passes off of Yao's hands for the 50 games a year Yao is not injured.
I haven't even been thinking about Thabeet. I have been on Harden and Rubio. With Harden, we might be able to get the 2nd and trade down for a backup C and Harden.. ya kno
i think these guards all have something to counter their offensive weaknesses.... rose has astonishing athleticism to counter his lack of a j brooks has speed, shooting, and a vertical to counter his size, Paul is damn near perfect but below the rim play which he counters with a high IQ similar to billups deron's also near perfect, rondo has athleticism and speed to counter his J, parker has a high IQ, speed, and incredible finishing ability to counter his J you can even throw in nash, has the high IQ, great jumper to counter the lack of speed Rubio has the vision, passing...but that's all in the distribution area, he really has no strength when it comes to actually scoring the ball himself, all the other points do...they can all give you 10 assts AND 20+ pts......this is why i see him close to jkidd than nash...kidd tries to counter his offensive shortcomings with strength and a high IQ, but that's not as effective..the reason why he's so damn good is because he's not only a great passer, but also a good defender and a great rebounder at the point who's jumper can get hot sometimes. Rubio has all that but the rebounding ability and strength, so i put him below kidd, but the same mold.
Kidd and Stockton thrived in a time where passing PGs were the elite. Now a days, PGs need to be consistent passers and effective scorers. We saw that for over 3 years in our desperate search for a legit PG. Successful teams have great PGs. I can honestly say that the Lakers really suffer at the PG position due to Derek Fisher's minimal athletisism.
i hope you're kidding...that'll probably mean our starting point got injured or we gave up lowry AND brooks...
The reason you invest heavily in a quality big man, is because the odds are pretty good that Yao will miss more games due to injury. Neither Thabeet or Rubio are sure things, so it's not like one is a risky pick compared to the other. Still, it's almost certain that Memphis would want Brooks, so the Rockets would have no choice but to draft another point guard, or trade for a veteran.
that's if Yao is even here anymore, if we take a step back because we decided to build for the future he may just walk somewhere else..
We have been in a desperate search for uninjured stars not legit PG play. If you haven't noticed our former PG is in the NBA finals. FYI:The Lakers have been fairly successful with their sub-par point guard play.
