that doesn't mean much....they both played about the same number of minutes...rubio is around the team more than calderon and more than likely got it because of that and probably because he's their future point

Just You Tube him he's sick as HELL !!!!!!! Brooks cannot even come close to his passing abilities and he penatrates and can dunk. Brooks is a better shooter and MAYBE a little quicker. He has a shot like Manus where he shoots above his head but Damn his passing is amazing.......

Yeah I've seen those. He's definitely someone thats hard to pass up on. I like our chances of getting him, if the rumors are actually true.

wow. Center is our strongest position? I lol'd. And then I lol'd again. I don't think Thabeet will be a bust, he's extremely athletic and coordinated for his size. And possibly still growing.

All these videos amount to one comparison.

    Ricky Rubio = Harlem Globetrotters.

The people in black and white = the unlucky team that is facing the Harlem Globetrotters that night.

    :D

I haven't seen this video posted in this thread (and I looked through all 22 pages) so I figured I'd stick it here. It appears to be the most recent (posted March 24, 2009) and extensive compilation out there. Interesting song choice, by the way.

EDIT: This next one is actually more recent and all footage is from 08-09...

I'm digressing a bit. Is Jennings worth going after in the late lottery? He probably won't cost that much I assume.

What the hell ... so they call this blatant travel a "Euro Step" move, and all of a sudden its legitimate? Two steps -- "left, right" or "right, left" -- are all you're allowed under the rules. None of this "right, right, left" stuff.

you have to be absolutely crazy to take rubio over thabeet. That type of talent doesn't come around very often. The guy is 7'2 270 with length, athleticism, skill, and a tenacious defender and rebounder.

Rubio is a skilled cat, but athletes like thabeet don't come around often. Yao and Thabeet splitting time at center would easily make us the best defensive team in the league and that means we have a shot at gold year in year out.

I agree...Thabeet would make us a great defensive team...but how much defense do we need? If we just had one guy who could run our offense smoothly this season, we're probably gearing up against the Magic right now....We all saw how horrible our offense was against the Lakers. Another year of Artest dribbling and Brooks over-dribbling? One thing I like from Rubio is he goes to the paint to make plays. Brooks just goes in there and runs out. You can say it's similar to Nash or Paul...but it isn't...it's usually just useless dribbling.

Also when it comes to drafting, IMO Skilled players over Athletic players.

Knowing Morey, he will probably just drop both the #2 and #5 pick on us, pick up Thabeet and Rubio while taking a "bad" contract which is actually a superstar, all for only Landry, Brooks, Barry, McGrady, Dorsey and Hayes.

But seriously...I get the feeling he is up to something BIG.

the Rockets are not going to give up what they have to for a #2 pick just for a backup center! Thabeet is great but he doesn't hit our need. We need a scorer. Someone who can give defense fits with vision and scoring. I honestly think Stephon Curry is great for that but Rubio's potential is undeniable. Rubio has played pro ball since he was 14. 14!

I agree with you 100%. Not to mention Rubio is a better defensive player and gets more steals (assuming this from the videos of course) than Aaron Brooks. Also he has length and height being 6'3 3/4 ft tall, round it to 6'4 if you like. His height and length will keep other guards from trying to post him up like they do with Aaron Brooks. Brooks in a recent article said that the hardest point guard for him to guard was Deron Williams because of his strength and size. With Rubio, he might not have the strength to compete with Deron Williams but he has the size. Also he has a good shooting range and will definitely be tough to guard on a pick and roll with Scola and Yao. The only problem is that he initiates alot of fast breaks, and Yao as we all know isnt exactly the fastest guy in fast breaks. But with Scola, Battier, Ron, and (maybe Tracy), his job will be easier. I could see him giving the ball to Scola on the break or spot up 3pt with Battier or Artest or maybe even an alleyoop to Tracy (I know I'm dreaming). Anyways I love what we'd get out of this kid. I'd prefer him than Thabeet any day.

yeh ok. look i like rubio and i can definantly see the need for his playmaking skills on our team. Keep in mind, fernandez was the best spanish player in the olympics last year besides Gasol, and looking at his longterm potential, i dont ever see fernandez being anything more than a above average bench player in the NBA. Rubio is younger obviously, but he has little room for improvement when it comes to skill set.

When you're drafting this high, you have to look at long term potential. Thabeet has the potential to become a dwight howard like prescense with his shot blocking and rebounding. You just can't pass that up for a player who wouldnt even beat out brooks or lowry at PG for atleast another two years or so. Whether you can see it or not, Yao's inability to stay healthy has cost us in each of the last two yeard during the playoffs. Thabeet would be a guy who would complement Yao's game well and take some of the load off of his shoulders.

 AB is without a doubt quicker than Rubio, much more...and i hope he can dunk at 6'4, but it's nothing to get excited about

He can dunk. He reads the defense alot better than Brooks. He's also a better passer and with Yao being our main option offensively, we don't need a shooting point guard.
