My dad was recently in a wreck - he totaled his 2001 Dodge Dakota - and with the buyout and the settlement money, he decided to get the hybrid Fusion.

Totally off the wall purchase for him considering he always said "anything but a Ford" to us when we were growing up...

He got some special discounts through his workplace, and talked the price down some more on top of that, so he got his car loaded with the amenities for super cheap. I will say, it's quite a nice car... for a Ford.

I'm at work so I can't access photobucket, thus I can't post any pics of the cars I had; however, I can list them.

I turned 16 in July of '89, so it goes like this:

    July '89 through August '91 - Brown 1980 Datsun 510 (stickshift)
August '91 through August '97 - Gold 1990 Ford Escort LX (stickshift)
August '97 through December '98 - White 1992 Honda Prelude SI (stickshift)
December '98 through May '01 - Hunter Green 1994 Toyota Camry LEV6 (first automatic I had and first V6)
May '01 through October '04 - White 1997 Nissan Maxima SE (auto)
October '04 through December '05 - Silver 2003 Nissan 350Z Touring Edition (stickshift)
    December '05 through July '06 - Gold 2002 Lincoln LS V8 (auto)
July '06 through to the present - Black 2006 Nissan Altima Special Edition, 4 cylinder version (auto)
June '08 through to the present - Blue 2008 Nissan Versa 4 Door (auto)

The Versa is what I drive now although the wife and me have talked about swapping it up again. The worst car I have ever owned was either the Lincoln or the Prelude, believe it or not. The Escort was actually not a bad car - the only major issue I had with it was the timing belt broke on me as I was going back to Huntsville, AL for school one weekend. I also had numerous air conditioning problems but that is typical for an Escort. Of course, the best car I have ever driven was the 350Z and my wife still laments the fact that I got rid of it too soon. But there was no way we could have made things work with that car with her, me, and our daughter. One day, though, when our kids are out on their own, we will get another Z.

I've never had an issue with any of my personal Fords...

And for 41 MPG city, I'd love the Fusion Hybrid!

I remember how much you loved that Z. Surprised you let it go. Luckily, Tara wanted a mid sized SUV and we found her an '07 Mercury Mountaneer Premier Edition. Very nice 7 seater for the family, and I get to keep the Stang. Now that I have the F150 SuperCrew, I can haul the whole family around as well!

Every one of my Fords has been pretty good to me. The '84 needed the most work, but then again, my ex'es '84 325i was a piece of crap. My last 3 Fords have been awesome. Go figure.

Having enough room for the kids and extras was the main reason I went with the G8 over the Challenger.

If it was just the wife and I, my choices would have been between the Challenger or Camaro. As it is, my choices were between the Charger or the G8.

Got some great upgrades and features on the G8...besides the fact it is just soooo much more.......Sexy.

How is performance on that G8. I have to admit, it has really caught my eye.

1998 Chevrolet Cavalier Rally Sport (****ing loved this car to death, even though there was nothing special about it)

2000 Chevrolet Camaro (my dad had the great idea to buy this for me as a surprise graduation gift. he pulled the surprise off excellently, but didn't know that a Camaro was one of the last cars I'd ever pick. I didn't complain, though, and had fun driving a sports car for about six months. The lack of cargo space and the lack of ground clearance was annoying as balls.)

2002 Mercury Mountaineer (My dad realized how inconvenient a Camaro was, gave me his Mountaineer, traded in the Camaro on something else. This car had all the bells and whistles on it, but the gas mileage killed me.)

2003 VW Jetta Turbo (My dad got married, his wife's father passed away, she was an only child, got all of his stuff, which included a brand new Lexus, so we had an extra car. I couldn't afford the gas in the Mountaineer, so I took his wife's VW Jetta, they sold the Mountaineer. I still drive this car, and it's falling apart, but I'm swimming in law school debt, so I plan on driving it for a while. I'll never own another VW.)

It'll put you back in your seats.

I got the GT version that comes with the 6.0L V8 and the 6 speed auto. I havent got it out to Raceway park yet for street racing nights, but all the specs I found on it gives it a 0-60 time of 5.3 seconds and a 13.7-second quarter-mile. Its handling at speed is impressive, I regularly take freeway-to-freeway ramps at 75mph with ease.

It's about the best 4 dr muscle car on the roads...I test drove it's only competitor for the title and the Charger is just far clunkier to drive than the G8.
