Let me start by saying that my gratitude goes out to all the soldiers who have made the ultimate sacrifice throughout the years to allow us to have the daily luxuries we have. I pray that one day, our government is able to take care of the soldiers most in need when they come home, and not dump them on PTSD depressants, psychotropic medication that makes them dangerously dependent, and mind altering opioids that have suicidal risks associated with them. What more can you expect when pharmaceuticals are one of the biggest lobbyists for our government? Yes psychotherapy and other forms of proper treatment are expensive, but so are wars, GET IT DONE. The number of veterans that take their lives on a daily basis is unacceptable for a government that claims to praise the sacrifices that their soldiers make.
I agree. I think we were cavalier about the costs of waging war and under-estimated the impact of casualties because so much of the burden is easily shifted from the military to the soldier. Now that there's a push for the government to cover the whole cost of the casualties, we're trying to skate by on the cheap. It's expensive, but it's our cost to pay; it shouldn't be on the soldier who was ordered into combat. And the next time we think about occupying a foreign country, we can think of the whole cost of doing so. I appreciate the sentiments that drive people to volunteer and serve. But, the military is offering a bad deal -- enormous risk and low returns.
It's the same thing the US has done since the Revolutionary War. Over medication of vets and the suicide rate of vets has nothing to do with Obama as this was a problem long before his presidency. You coming into this thread to post a one liner about Obama is blatenly political.
Best time to do that is before the war starts, shifting funds from defense to infrastructure. Glad you agree. Welcome to the democratic party, Comrade Texxx.
To the politicians, the soldier puts his life on the line for political ideals you and some other rich mofo can't settle on. the least you can do for them is give them and their families a nice house and a higher signing bonus, starting at $100,000.
A REAL SCANDAL! Ya that war. Hillary Clinton supporting it has no bearing on whether the war was justified or not. I didn't know you valued her opinion so much.
That would be awesome but I really shouldn't complain. I mean I'm being paid to receive a bachelors degree. I honestly am content with what the government has given me.
Deflection, the tell tale sign of a weak argument. Thank you for your opposition to u.s. imperialism, you've made the right choice Comrade.
You were too good to become a vet. What was it? It was more important for you to fight the cubicle war than sign up. AMIRITE
No -- I'm not too good to serve. I've never said that, despite what glynch tried to convince others of. Stay on topic (if you can)
