a front court of smith and asik can the rockets some games easily. pretty sure a front court like that can destroy the Bobcats.
Probably posted but please take note haters: http://blog.chron.com/ultimaterockets/2012/12/popovich-believes-sampson-is-suited-for-an-nba-coaching-job/
No, you can't blame this one on Morey. Morey was very clear in an interview when he was questioned about the prevalence of "small ball." He stated that the increasing prevalence of "small ball" was not due to any intrinsic benefit from going small, but because there are more skilled people at shorter heights than there are taller guys with the same skill level, simple because of the natural distribution of human heights. More short people > larger talent pool than is available at the taller end of the gene pool Easier to find skilled shorter guys > harder to find taller guys of equivalent skill Going small means you opt to put in the shorter guy of higher skill, rather than the taller guy of lower skill. Of course if you can find a taller guy of equal skill as the shorter guy, the taller guy wins every time. Thus, Morey explains the increasing prevalence of "small ball" as a simple effect of supply/demand in the available talent pool as a natural effect of the expression of height in the human genome distribution. He doesn't advocate small ball for the sake of going small. It's just that there are less talented tall guys of equal skill. Not because going small gives any intrinsic benefit. You can't blame Morey for Sampson/McHale going small and crapping the bed with the Rockets in last year's final losing stretch, nor for the weird line-up that just happened. Morey's not the one calling the rotation shots, and if all things were equal, he'd prefer to start a taller guy of equal skill if one can be found.
This didn't last very long in the game, and it was a response to Carlisle replacing Elton Brand with a 6'7 rookie SF who shoots 3 pointers. So, basically, there were no PFs on the floor on either side of the ball, and we put Delfino on the rookie SF. What's the big deal with that? I swear you guys don't look at what the other coach is doing.
Change "irregardless" to "regardless" and only grammar jerks like me can find fault in your post. Good job.
Asik gets taken out in the 4th quarter because he can't hit his free throws. He was 2-7 in the Dallas game. I'm about 99% sure he'd still be playing at the end of every game if he was a better free throw shooter.
You may as well have said, 'Repped for ignoring the truth'. The truth is Asik can't hit free throws. Unless you want to see 'hack a sik' every game, there is nothing to do but sit him.
If you watched any games in april last year, you would've seen how many times we lost because we couldn't get the rebound or let somebody just drive inside. Camby and Dalembert both could've made a difference while Patterson couldn't, on defense! Offense in the 4th wasn't the problem and what McHale and Sampson are doing now is also mostly about defense. To me, it's all of the wing players who lack the killer instinct in the 4th to defend well so Harden, Parsons, Lin and Douglas.
To be quite honest, I never really understood this small ball BS. Maybe if you had a "small ball" team win a ring then you could make a case, but the teams who it all had a formidable front line, including Lakers, Spurs, Mavs and Celts. Miami was an exception, but then again it was a special case because it had Lebron and Bosh, and their centers were Big Z, Turiaf and some no name. As far as the hand he's been dealt, Mchale's been given Greg Smith and Omer Asik for the C spot. You're really gonna bench those two guys for Patterson? Really?
I'm calling for Morey's head now. This has been going for a while Is Mchale this inexperienced not to know simple stuff? Is morey running this show? All the 6'8 power forwards and centers he's drafted prove he doesn't believe in size. Sampson will play the starters with a 20 lead to death.
