I think it is quite intriguing to rent Melo for a half a season as long as Parsons is not included in any deal. If it doesn´t work fine. Asik and Lin would be off the books next year. Win win situation.
Dude I don't even know wtf you're trying to argue about. I just don't fully buy in to this "he's a team-killer" argument, because it seems to at least be in part, a media narrative. I can see how one can maybe be inclined to believe it, but then again he's never really been on a team with expectations of "contending,"...the closest example of that would definitely be Team USA, in which he's the best player on a team that was obviously stacked, and he definitely delivered. That's all.
wow that is a good point. if we trade lin, asik, jones and or dmo with picks in a deal for melo...or use some or all those pieces to do a 3 team deal. we get to see if it works for half season if not ...let him go we could have full max offer for james, dirk, ... or even target non max players like bledsoe. Bledsoe, Harden, Parsons, and howard would be one of the best teams in the nba
Dwight will probably go crazy if he has to cover for Melo and Harden defensive lapses. However, Lin/Asik/D-mo for Melo is a good deal, though I think the Knicks will probably want picks as well.
Um no. Even if it's just for Asik and Lin lol. As a half rental Melo won't be of use short-term because what the team needs right now is someone who can light a fire under the team's ass, and trust me when I say that dude isn't Melo. Long term Melo will leave in FA and you just lost assets for nothing. I don't really get the salary argument because Asik and Lin are already expiring on their own after next season. Imagine if you traded Lin, Asik and Tjones for Melo and Melo walks away in the offseason sure you just lost your backup C, starting PF and backup/starting pg. Even if you have capspace you still lost out because you could've traded them for picks.

but think about his expiring for our team...we could go after james or dirk with full max available if he doesnt work out. Shoot is is possible dirk takes less and we can split the max between him and bledosoe and have Bledsoe Harden Parsons Dirk Harden
Hawks should trade Millsap for Asik and then sign Melo in the offseason. Also try to get a defensive stopper at the 2 and move Korver to the bench. Teague Korver Melo Horford Asik
Hey Pot...errr...George...what's your playoff record again???? BTW - for those that don't know 80 W and 105 L and NO championships and 9 1 and dones the last 10 trips to the playoffs
You are trying to prove he's not a team killer by referencing a totally different situation than NBA. I think it's not comparable at all and I'm arguing about that. Oh and you went from 3rd best player on the team to best player. Maybe LBJ and KD has something to say about it. Anyway, the point is he can't win anything when he is the first option on the team, which he wasn't during Olympics. And he probably won't sign anywhere to be a 2nd option.
