Pretty much. I think Melo would still work here. Not as a main guy obviously but man you guys are crazy thinking he'd be part of that 0-27 shooting streak we had. Melo simply would not, he'd find a way to score. Dude is a selfish ballhog but we have room to have one of those on our team. When we have guys over passing and doing nothing but bricking open 3s and your seemingly best shot is a Harden step back 3 you can have a guy that just goes F it, posts up on the elbow, and gets an easy 2. I'd easily trade Ryno for Melo right now and it works out for both teams at this point. Plus. We have CP3. He'll keep him in check. Especially since they are great friends. Ryno is worse than Melo in every way, he's only good for spot up shooting, that's it. Melo can do that too but he has the added benefit of still being savvy enough to score. One last thing. Every player looks worse than they are playing with Westbrook. Paul George went from all-star lock to not even an all-star. Oladipo went from role player to all-star I think Melo's talent has fallen off too but if he comes here he's going to get what his game thrives off of, Isos, and it won't hurt us at all because our entire half court scheme is based off of isolation plays.
He will not opt out... ......but he will opt in and ask for a buyout to squeeze as much juice out from the OKC thunder as he can. Then sign here for the Min. Book it.
agreed...I just think so lowly of Melo now and think he’s such a negative on the court that I’d much prefer that he never steps foot anywhere near this team get Ryno the hell up outta here, and keep Melo far away from here...that’s where I’m at
Optimally, we can just move Ryno and burn all team photos of him but most team aren’t dumb enough to save us lol. Not even the Kings lol smh.
no he didn't. he was doing what he was doing here for toronto last year. The rockets just have a higher ceiling. They didn't just want to give a guy who sucked last year $30 mil out of no where. and from what PJ said he had higher offers that he turned down. Tucker sucked? far from it. Tucker was also doing the same things in phx. Tucker's contributions as a role player just seem to be much better bc hes on a championship level team and they need these type of energy players. On mediocre teams this won't get noticed as much bc they aren't actually winning Hence all the PJ tucker kneejerk reactions were he was some scrub that hou picked up that wouldn't make a difference bc obviously these type of players are overlooked by casual fans and aren't really appreciated Melo sucked in NY, melo sucked in okc. at this stage of his career hell suck anywhere else bc he fails to adjust to his own ego and put a team first
Y’all keep saying that Paul George was so much worse playing next to Westbrook when that wasn’t the case. Paul George is not an all star lock in the West because there’s far more high end talent in the West in comparison to the East. Paul George this past season in OKC had the best 3 point shooting season of his career (40% on almost 8 attempts a game), the highest offensive rating of his career, the 2nd highest TS% of his career, and averaged 22, 6, and 3. PG was fine in OKC playing next to Russ. Nah, we don’t have room for another ball hog on our team who is extremely inefficient. Melo shot 38% from the field and 21% from 3 in this year’s playoffs. He could have easily been just another player tossing up bricks for us in game 7. Melo does not get easy 2’s, he’s too washed up for that. Nobody fears Melo on the offensive end. He has no lift at the rim, and can barely create seperation for a jumper anymore. Melo can create tough, contested midrange jumpers or turnaround fadeaways in the post. That’s not that valuable. Why would u want the inefficient Melo using up our possessions to ISO? That’s a waste.
Hou already has a guy who is never afraid to throw up a shot in GG. If that wasn't nerve wrecking enough for you, I definitely want no part of Melo jacking up his shots that kill his own teams night in and night out. Atleast with GG, he brings an energy boost that this team sometimes needs. Can't say the same for melo. When will the excuses for melo ever stop. he gets are these excuses year after year concerning his poor play and I have no clue why.
Let’s see, if..... 1) LeBron is acquired 2) Melo gets bought out 3) LeBron says get him 4) Melo agrees to sign for vet minimum 5) Melo agrees to come off of the bench 6) Melo agrees to not cry if/when he gets put in the doghouse Then you have my approval.
You guys are idiots. If we had Melo instead of Ryan Anderson we win game 7 and beat the Cavs easily. I understand his game hasn't been analytic friendly (for you +/- nerds). But playing in a actual system where ISO ball is encouraged w/ the freedom to just play, would be great for us and Melo. I honestly would like to see him here
Only one way I would take melo in Houston. 1. He comes for league minimum. 2. He comes off the bench. 3. He shuts the hell up and doesn't complain.
Melo was definitely bad in OKC, i'm still pretty sure he would've been better here. I also wonder if he at least tried to play well...this might be completely wrong of course, but i think Melo is one of those guys that takes himself out when he's not feeling he's in the right situation, kinda like Dwight. Wouldn't be shocked if he just didn't give a f. And i actually remember that when he played against us he wasn't as bad as i saw him other times, might be a coincidence but i think he was probably more motivated against us...and lol, that's actually what Dwight does.
People overrate efficiency so much these days and no one was talking about how efficient players were in the 90s. PGs efficiency goes up because he got less shots and had less of a burden on his shoulders. So naturally, he SHOULD shoot better. Just like Harden's efficiency goes up playing next to CP3. Klay's efficiency goes down guaranteed if you put him on the Kings. Bringing it up in a vacuum doesnt mean anything to me. What matters more to me is that Paul George was once an all-nba player and isn't anymore. You have two all-nba players on your team you should not be getting swept in the first round of the playoffs. I mean we are talking a 0.008 difference in his 3 point fg% here with a difference of 112 shots. He got more open looks playing with westbrook, mainly because he came from a team where he had to create all of his open looks himself...it doesn't mean he played any better. All it means is he shot slightly better and he should. For all of his faults Westbrook is still an all NBA player and the best player PG13 has played with so far. For all the talk of his diminishing game and the stats but we acting like he isn't a career .350% from 3 point shooter? Everyone here BEGGED for this guy last offseason, his career numbers have been pretty damn consistent, nothing much has changed if you look at just his stats from now and before. He shot a worse %, true, but he was a career .350 shooter from 3 and OKC asked him to be a spot up shooter. Not only did they want that from him, they told him that's his new role. As a result, he shot the most 3s this season of his career. This is bad coaching and team management, to put guys in positions you know they will fail at. Taking a guy that is average 3 point shooter and making him nothing but a spot up 3 point shooter. We all wanted ISO Joe to come off our bench to basically do what Carmelo does, can probably still do. We don't really know, this season for him has been an outlier scoring wise for him. We can talk about the stats that's fine, talk about how this season has been an outlier for his career too. If he's done, he's done because he's old, not because he's a bad player. Even old Melo is better than Ryno, his contract his better, and he's coming to a team with one of his life long best pals and two players whose mentality is to share the sugar.
I think CP3 could get Melo to buy into playing 6th man with a green light and 30mpg. You can also sell him on having a HOF playmaker on the floor at all times with him getting him good looks. Of course if LeBron opts in and Melo opts out, we focus every ounce of our attention on LeBron and probably safely assume Melo would take a big pay cut to join up for MLE. This is all speculation that oKc is okay with a Ryno for opted in Melo and Morey can't find any other way to rid himself of Ryno.
alot has changed for me after watching him in okc this season. he has continued to drop off and his ego makes it that much worse.
