As much as I believe Morey could get a deal done, I just don't see it happening. If you guys believe that Melo would prefer Houston over New York and Chicago, well you're dreaming. Someone mentioned earlier that this is just speculation... Well its been speculation the whole freaking summer!!! We have a better chance of Michael Jordan coming out of retirement to play for us than Melo coming to play for us.
I still can not fathom a trade to the Knicks. They would need Anthony to demand a trade to them only.....but the Nuggets are so peeved at his camp I think they would call his bluff. Their top offer remains: Curry, Gallinari, and Chandler or Randolph. No first rounders. Bulls make a lot of sense, and just like the BBS tends to overvalue our assets, I see a lot of people undervaluing Deng. 17.6 pts a game at a salary of $11.4M (1.54 pts per $1M) Durant has to be one of the best production values in the league among the stars (5.0 pts per $1M) LeBron is 2.06 pts per $1M, Wade is 1.85, Kobe is 1.09, Carmelo is 1.64, Aaron Brooks is 9.8 (rookie deals FTW!), Kevin Martin is 1.86 What I'm getting at is, Deng is not atrociously overpaid. 2/3rds of the scoring, 110% of the rebounding, push on defense (at worst), 2/3rds the assists, 2/3rds of the price - all in comparison to Anthony. What's fair to say is, he can't carry a team. But it's also fair to say that Brooks or Martin on their own won't get a team into the playoffs either. Don't pan Deng for being one of the worst contracts in the league when his 18-7-2 costs $1M/yr more than Martin's 20-3-2.
I wonder if Denver said, "Hey Melo, we'll trade you, but not within the Western Conference. Where do you wanna go?" Obviously, Denver would prefer to either keep him or ship him to the East.
I'm with you on this, as long as he's not a Knick it just don"t matter to me. I am interested on what this team would look like with another elite player on the team, but not at the expense of gutting too many of our key players. Melo is still not out of the question in coming here, this could all be a smoke by the Nuggets and Melo. The Nuggets are just playing the field trying to get the most out of what they can. The Rockets are laying patiently, waiting. Can you doubt that Morey is still moving chess pieces around and planning his next move? DM will have his hand in the pot somewhere, Iggy?
Exactly, trade him to Chicago and let those teams in the EC beat each other up, only one gets to the finals to face the Rockets. DD
That Chicago trade has to be rumour mill being put out there to squeeze other teams down, it's an awful trade for Denver, basically the 2 teams at the top of the rumour list are the 2 with the worst offers. Jersey could top us, Clippers maybe too, but its only the teams with jack **** on the block who are being mentioned here.
Bulls Consider Including Noah for Anthony The Chicago Bulls are interested in trading for the Denver Nuggets' Carmelo Anthony and are discussing internally including Joakim Noah as part of the deal, according to a league source. ESPNChicago.com Bulls blog Bulls blog The latest news from Bulls reporter Nick Friedell. Blog According to the source, the Nuggets are hesitant to take back Luol Deng as part of a deal with the Bulls because Denver is leery of taking on long-term contracts with the collective bargaining agreement set to expire on June 30, 2011. Deng is two years into a six-year, $71 million contract. Noah will make $3.1 million this season in the fourth year of his rookie deal. He would become a restricted free agent next season unless the Bulls extend his contract. Yahoo! Sports reported Wednesday that an NBA source with knowledge of Anthony's wishes told him Anthony still hopes to convince Nuggets general manager Masai Ujiri to trade him, and he prefers a move to the New York Knicks or Bulls. The Nuggets offered Anthony a three-year, $65 million extension through 2014, but if he rejects it, the team will have to consider trading the forward who has guided them to seven straight playoff berths. "I think I'm going to convince him to be a Nugget," Ujiri said on Aug. 31. "No, I don't know, I can't make a judgment on that. Like I said, it's a process and until he tells me that ... we want him back, the city wants him back, ownership wants him back." Anthony has never come out and said he wanted to be traded, however. At his basketball camp this summer, Anthony dismissed all the speculation of his impending departure from Denver: "I've been hearing that for five years. I'm a Denver Nugget. I'm here, I'm with the Nuggets. I don't become a free agent until next year, if I decide not to take that extension." Anthony, 26, has averaged 24.7 points per game in his career, including 28.2 last season.
In regards to the above article, bear in mind that any Chicago deal would HAVE to include Deng, unless they lose their minds and hand over Boozer. I believe the report is suggesting that Noah would be offered with Deng, to make Deng's long term contract easier to accept. Evan
No way Denver takes back Deng's contract unless their GM is under the influence. If I remember correctly, they couldn't even give away Deng for free and with cash this offseason. What makes you think they can give him up now for Carmelo?
Hopefully this is the end of all Melo to Houston Threads Like I've been saying for a while. Houston isn't going 2 attract a top tier free agent. If we get a player like that, I would have to be through a trade ( in which the player has no say...not likely) or in the draft (more likely)
I still can't believe that the Bulls would be willing to give up Noah. A good center is harder to find than a great small foward. I remember they wouldn't even think about including Noah in any S&T talks with the Raptors for Bosh. Now they are willing to give him up for a Small Foward?
I just hope that if Melo does get traded that it happens soon. I'm tired of hearing speculations and rumors. I don't care if it's too Houston or not. Just end it, so I can focus on the excitement of the upcoming season for the Rockets.
Chicago losing Noah with Deng makes them have a big 3 with Rose-Boozer-Melo that I cannot see them competing with Miami or Boston in the East. Now if they kept Noah...
I honestly at this point don't care for Melo that much, as long as he doesn't go t the Knicks, besides. I want Iggy.
All I'm stating is that the money can't add up unless Deng is added, assuming Chicago isn't sending over Boozer. They have to send over no less than $13M to get Melo, and Noah makes $3M.
emjohn, Great find. I didn't think there was any way the Nuggets would want Deng as the centerpiece, but I was legitimately concerned about that piece being Noah. Now I can rest a bit easier knowing that Deng would still have to be included. Question is if Denver believes: Billups Jr Deng KMart Noah can legitimately compete for a championship. The Bulls would be losing a lot in this deal, but I can see them still considering it.
Glad to hear this saga will be done before the season starts. The Rockets do not nee Melo and his no D only offense game.
