    Melo is honoring his contract..

Actually, what's funny is his contract is expiring after this season so he will be a FREE MAN to do whatever he wants! ;)

Professionally is keeping your mouth shut and just playing ball. This isn't any other job he's on a team and he's the star of that team. He's human meaning his mind is elsewhere thinking about money and ny. I think it's messed up, he's crippling the team now and it'll stay that way till they make a trade.

Look at it this way, he turned in his 2 weeks notice and is willing to serve out the remainder time as obligated by his contract.

Quitting without the two weeks notice would be like what Lebron did.

    So which is better?

Huh? Everyone knows LBJ would be a free agent when his contract ended. LBJ also didn't make any promises and just kept his mouth shut where he would end up, so its not like he fooled everyone into thinking he was staying then suddenly blindsided the franchise Elton Brand-style. Also Cleveland ended up doing a sign-and-trade for LBJ, so they did get something in return.

Melo oth keeps b****ing about NY even before the season started. "2 weeks"? How about a year? What if your employee puts up a year notice and stars taking interview calls while he was still in your employment?

C'mon, he obviously fooled you if you think he had an inclination to sign anywhere but Miami. Him, Wade and Bosh had this all worked out from last season. LBJ was just paying the other teams lip-service to make it appear like it wasn't all pre-arranged. He was always going to Miami.

Um.. I thought this was a Melo thread? There's enough Lebron talk in this forum, just as well with McGrady, how about you all take it over to the

Lebron's New 9 Million Dollar Mansion Thread Haha just saying :p

Anyway, it's interesting.. Why would NY, NOW, make a (package/multiple player) offer to Denver- for Melo when he, obviously, intends to go there anyway? They think Jersey is competition for signing him? But he just stated he wouldn't sign an extension otherwise..

NY can offer less, but they know that there is risk involved when you don't control his rights.

Maybe they feel with Melo now they can contend, so why wait?

There is a lot to be said to just going out and getting him versus waiting....

And, Melo, for all this talk, can still choose NOT to opt out......

Actually, he can't. NY doesn't have the cap space to sign him to a max as an unrestricted free agent. Melo wants to be in NY yes, but he also wants to eat his cake too. He absolutely wants that 65M extension, almost as much as he wants to go to NY. It's going to be a tough proposition if NY isn't offering enough to Denver to acquire him at the deadline. History has shown us, however, that these things work themselves out somehow, either now or in a SnT during the summer. Denver WILL take something back for Melo; now it's up to them to actually get assets worth a darn. This Melo pronouncement does not help.

Obviously, I didn't mean literally 2 weeks. It was supposed to be an analogy to help you better understand. The point is giving your employer ample time to find a replacement or plan for the future. There are parallels if you look at it that way.

Up until the last SECOND, people in Cleveland were hopeful Lebron would be coming back. In hindsight, Cleveland probably would have preferred to get something back for Lebron. Anyway I didn't mean to derail the thread. I'm just saying Carmelo's handling this way better than Lebron so doesn't warrant the "screwing-the-former-team-over" comparisons. Like I said, what Melo is doing is fair to both the Nuggets and himself.

It's really amazing how people hold professional athletes to such standards of "loyalty" when they themselves would quit a job for another one in a heartbeat if they felt it was in their best interest for their career.

How is Melo not honoring his contract? He is going out and competing every night he is healthy. He is like th guy in the company who put in his two week notice so the company would have time to find a replacement, but he is doing his job and earning his pay in the mean time in between time. but he is happy about the prospects for his new assignment for himself and his family. if that were a clean cut guy in corporate America we would all be happy and excited for him.

LBJ on the other hand is the guy that didn't give a two week notice, won the lottery, came in to work drunk, cursed out the boss, deleted all the files, and called his co-workers incompetent on his way out. There is no comparison between these two.

It's too bad neither of you have great minds, then.

Quitting without notice? Even when the contract has expired?

Amazing logic. 5-Stars. Would read again.

Not really. Wouldn't you want the Rockets playing in the Eastern Conference? They'd be in the playoffs even with sub .500 records every year.
