What the hell? Are we in "The Warriors"? Keep reading. Keep reading. I would take that bet. He's not gonig anywhere. THANK YOU! The Camby love is un-real. I do find it funny on this board watching some of you guys call Camby "absolutely worthless" when he was a Nugget, and now he's one of the better defenders in the NBA. Which is it? A3P has been consistent, and I've been agreeing with him -- he's one of the more overrated defenders in the NBA. He's great at blocked shots, but can NOT do the man-to-man defense necessary to be great. He was horrid on offense. The Nugs aren't going to miss him as much as everyone thinks this year. Right now, I have the Nugs as the 8th or 9th best team in the West. 42-45 wins. Maybe 50 if they get lucky (not likely). We're battling Dallas for the last spot (Dallas is this year's Miami team -- the team on national TV 10,000,000 times that no one wants to watch). Random prediction -- Portland gives Utah a run for their money in the division. Utah will win it, and Portland will start slow (have you seen their schedule?), but by the end of the season it'll be closer than everyone expects.
60 games is definitely possible. 5 wins in the preseason. 40 wins in the regular season. 15 wins on Playstation while on the team bus.
you know its funny, after the first couple of posts about them losing camby, i was like wait, you mean the same camby that everyone said was an overrated defender.
You must not have paid any attention to the draft and draft lottery then since it was swirling with Carmelo "exploratory" trade talks and rumors. Not saying I agree with it just saying I think Denver might be stupid enough to think he's the problem.
I think that was more of Dumars trying to snag a star with one of his over-the-hill starters, the same goes for the Mcgrady rumors. I think the nugs and rockets quickly shut him down when they saw what he was offering...and he found out what his players are really worth.
I can 100% guarantee that Denver did not initiate any of those talks and they rarely went beyond "Is Melo available?" "Only for Dwight Howard, Chris Paul, LeBron James, etc.".
BWAHAHAHAHAHAHA! I had been bypassing this thread all week but I finally took a minute to read the title and I cracked up. Oh Melo, you so crazy!
I'm sure they didn't initiate any of those talks but they sure did listen. In fact, they listened so intently to the point where Melo and his agent had to schedule a meeting with top Nuggets brass just to ascertain their stance and find out why exactly the organization refused to publicly denounce the rumors. Again, not saying I think this is the smart route. Just saying I foresee the Nuggets underachieving again and eventually somebody has to be held accountable. Sure, George Karl is easy to point finger at but in a trade-happy NBA i'm sure not even Melo is expendable. Given the types of expiring contracts and young talent teams will be dangling around in February it's very hard anything like this is off limits especially considering the very same team just traded away an asset like Camby for absolutely nothing.
Nuggets are going to be alot better than people think. I think they still win at least 50. 1. Lakers 2. Utah 3. Houston 4. Portland 5. San Antonio 6. New Orleans 7. Denver 8. Phoenix 9. Dallas
If the Nuggets decide to trade one of their superstars this season, it will most definitely be Allen Iverson. Carmelo is Denver's mainstay, just like McDyess and Van Exel were for a few years. For now, he is the face of the franchise, even if he continues to choke in crucial game moments. Kudos to the Nugs for keeping J.R., but I just can't see them winning a ton of games. In one of our Colorado newspapers, the Nuggets claimed that this is the season where they are focusing mainly on defense. It's pretty difficult to become a defensive team all of a sudden. Even the Rockets needed a season or two with Van Gundy to achieve a defensive idenitity. The point guard situation for the Nugs doesn't look well, either. Anthony Carter did a good job for a role players last season, but I don't think he will continue to have the same results this year. Also, Chucky Atkins is still trying to recover from injuries. Who is going to be the point guard? Doesn't Iverson work better exclusively as a shooting guard? There are so many questions the Nuggets have to answer before they even begin to discuss potential winning percentages.
nothing has melo gained through recent years but fat; we all have got tired of his performances that are really bad; he nearly drove all the nuggets fans mad; he'd better go back; to his home and wash his dirty hand at tap; try not to be as abashed as a rat; his smile is less cheerful as that of the cat; melo may as well walk away from denver after he packs his bag; find the route to his home on the map; melo doesn't deserve the wealth he has.
It's very unlikely for them to win 60 games... so? You find wrong from the players to pump up the team and believeing they can have a great season? If the stars align, Nene and Martin are healthy, they can approach 55w, it's not impossible. As they can slip out of the PO, of course, I just don't see where's the problem in what the players said. What would you have said in their place, just to know?
Dude, you obviously aren't listening. I can guarantee that none of this was serious and even the "meeting" you're talking about was planned before any of the rumors got out. It had nothing to do with the trade rumors. As for why the Nugs didn't "publicly denounce the rumors", they've had a media policy in place for over a decade that they don't comment on rumors. You're just looking for things to gripe about here. God I hope you're right. I see NO in the top 4 (if not top 2), Portland around 6, and the Nugs and Mavs fighting for #8. Agreed. Agreed until the end. Chokoe in crucial game moments? Agreed. I really think AI's going to run the point this year. Agreed. That said, I'm curious what you guys are freaking out over. What was Melo supposed to say? "Well, I'm hoping we win 45 games and sneak into the playoffs"? He says that and you guys would be all over him for being a cancer. It's a stupid pre-season fluff piece, something you'll find in 29 other newspapers this time of year. I'm not sure why this warrants 3 pages of freak-out.
