Manboobs is a great player no doubt, but not "trade a third of our core" great, especially in MDA's system IMO. That said, he did showcase a pretty nice stroke from downtown last season.
We don't really need his salary to execute a trade though. A package of Anderson, Long and Quarterman for Melo gets it done salary wise. I feel like we end up waiving Uthoff (with Brown/Williams re-signing we have little room on the roster), perhaps we can sign him to a 2 way contract after we waive him.
Our roster is set except for Wade's buyout sometime this season so we are in no hurry. I think the NYK should seriously consider jumping at the first chance we have a taker for Ryno. Ultimately, this is much cheaper to their cap than having to buy him out. He is literally untouchable because of the NTC so they have zero leverage. He's getting his money either from them or us. Do they want to pay $57 for a player they want to dump? I don't think so. They know they are going to have to eat every penny of that Noah contract and likely stretch him so they don't just want this flexibility, they have to have it. Morey knows how to apply the screws.
Thanks, bud. I've been around here and there. Just been too busy for posting or keeping up with all the mega-threads lately.
All other things aside, 36% is the equivalent of 1.08 points per possession which isn't GSW or HOU level efficiency but is pretty solid. I think the demarcation between solid and exceptional is 38% on threes.... which is 1.14 PPS But of course that's all looking at it individually, not in the flow of an offense, spacing, needing to mix in two's, three's, yada yada. But the Warriors shot 38% on threes as a team last year, which was good for 3rd in the league. They were 42% the year before. [CRAZY!!] And 40% the year before that. Had their best overall offensive year last year, when they shot the worst from the 3 point line as a team in the last 3 years.... but we're still in that exceptional range as a team. You can't beat the Warriors at their own game. It might be a complete disaster, but part of what makes the CP3/Harden/Melo combo interesting to me is that it isn't a GSW non-stop motion offense and doesn't necessarily on paper fit together like the GSW machine fits together. I think you have to come at the Warriors a little differently, to make them work harder/differently, impact the overall pace/style of the game, etc. And that way might just be forcing them to defend 3 superstar scorers/playmakers. It worked for the Cavs when they just had 2 go off for a series.
