Just saw this on live ESPN... really surprised by this. He just released his first mock today and has Manziel going #1 to the Texans.

    5. Oakland: Sammy Watkins
    4. Cleveland: Blake Bortles
    3. Jacksonville: Jadaveon Clowney
    2. St. Louis: Jake Matthews
    1. Houston: Johnny Manziel

I'd prefer bridgewater, but ultimately I don't care as long as whichever QB we end up with will win us games. I won't be upset with whoever we take, I'll just trust that O'Brien knows what he's doing more than I do.

Had Bridgewater out of the top 5 with Bortles going to Cleveland.

Higher upside than any other QB in the draft.

If this were Morey, I'd be praising his genius. But I can't give Rick Smith that kind of credit.

Build up the media hype for JM at #1, then rob the Browns blind since they will feel the pressure to trade up and get the guy that will inject some excitement into a woeful franchise (see: RG3 in Washington last season).

Take Bridgewater or Clowney at #4 and we'll have enough Cleveland picks stocked up this year and next to really rebuild this team.

It won't be easy, but any hint that we've decided on somebody else and they'll start calling the Rams.

Definitely most exciting and has the IT factor. Do you think he can handle the wear and tear?

I'd be okay with Manziel, Bridgewater, or Clowney. Just stay away from Bortles.

Wow at Bridegewater not going in his top 5. That would be shocking.

Agreed, I imagine JAX will pick up Bridgewater in a heart beat if he's there at #3.

What's odd is that he still has Bridgewater as his #1 rated QB, but has Manziel and Bortles going sooner. Bridgewater going #8 to Minnesota.

He was on SportsCenter but I didn't get his reasoning why he thought the Texans would think Manziel was a better fit for O'Brien's system. He said something about Manziel having a "unique" skill set that you can't ignore. That's fine, but he still has him rated lower than both Bridgewater and Bortles, so it still doesn't explain why he thinks the Texans would take him instead.

Sometimes I think people just see that College Station isn't far from Houston and think it makes sense for us to draft the Aggie. Just like it made sense for us to draft the Longhorn the last time we were in this situation.

I said Teddy will drop in the rankings when the combine came around. I was wrong... It's happening much sooner. Him being in a weak conference and not dominating it (and being small) is why I didn't want the Texans to draft him with a high pick. My friends in the Bridgewater Or Bust thread are killing me and say I don't even watch football and they keep saying he's ranked #1...

Jacksonville doesn't even want that dude and they have no QB either...

Now you guys can call Mel the troll... Lol..

When was the last time Kiper got a mock draft correctly?

    Exactly.

He is just another talking head for ESPN.

I think right now NO ONE knows what the top 5 will be. The only certainty is that Clowney is a top 5 pick for sure.

He gets a lot of picks right because he does dozens of mock drafts. Eventually he hits on a few. :)

This is all that needs to be said, regarding that so called "drop" in ranking.
