i heard that, too. everyone makes mistakes. from vernon maxwell to ken lay.

but i'm not sure how that's relevant to this.

Well, I hear you on one level, but corporate entities are composed of people, and these people make decisions. There are several interesting books out right now about corporate entities and their collective behavior, but I'm always wary of just using the "entity" lingo as an excuse.

So what did the producers of this movie promise investors? What type of investors did they look for? Are these important questions? To me they are. These are decisions that crafted the entire enterprise and may well have set out the groundwork for the contentions leading them all to court now.

I love it. "I love my Lord enough to buy a pendant, but I'm only buying the pewter, the sterling silver is too expensive!"

    Disgusting.

You were talking about corporate responsibility as it relates to Christianity, that's all.

I can completely understand mistakes. We all make them. But, to systematically do things as un-ethical as many have in corporate America while continuing to espouse religious beliefs that clearly speak to the contrary is really amazing to me.

    i understand those concerns.

i'm not using entities as an excuse. i'm saying they have legitimate contract rights that got trampled on when Regal said, "yeah..we know we agreed to pay you X%...but screw that...we're just gonna pay you y% instead."

if it's as clear-cut as that...then the corporation has a duty to its shareholders to enforce those rights. it has people to pay...and obligations to meet. people who provided real service...hard work..etc.

when you sign a contract...live by it. i'm amazed that we're villifying Icon here. Icon is supposed to just write this off?? And it's ok to just let Regal get away with that? Where's the justice in that? Where's the corporate accountability in that??

totally agreed. and i think that's entirely what Regal has done here from the information we have presented in this story.

we're not talking about corporate fraud, however, like Lay is caught up in. we're talking about one company's right to sue another for breach of contract.

    Jesus?

    Yeah. Right.

The only religion Gibson and Anschutz understand is the religion of the holy dollar.

I'm not sure there were any other investors in the movie other than Gibson himself.

Even Newmarket (the eventual distributor) just got a flat fee.

As for Anschutz, I'm sure he doesn't take a very active role in the running of Regal Entertainment. It's not his only company and certainly not his biggest (though with the talk of what has gone on at Qwest, there seems to be a history of potentially unethical behavior at Anschutz-owned companies).

Ha, this reminds me of that episode of South Park where Stan and Kenny hunt down Mel Gibson to get their money back after watching Passion.

Stan:"Well looks like with these bus tickets, we spend about $87 to get our money back from Mel Gibson, but I think its the principal thing that matters."

I don't think you're a Family Guy watcher, but reading those posts with Stewie's voice made me lol.
