How many people do they think live in Downtown Houston? I loved how at the beginning they showed a guy living in Heritage Plaza. Are they going to turn all of the office buildings into apartments? Sheesh, and can somebody who's seen the whole thing tell me how a dome will help with the heat? The first thing they say about this dome in England that they keep referencing is that it helps keep Tropical plants alive in England with it's moderate temp.
I've never heard anything about it anywhere before tonight and the people talking about it on this show seem to be consultants and writers and not actual people who have anything to do with the city of Houston.
Let's just say that a hurricane hit Biloxi,MS last summer, I think they would be talking about a dome in Biloxi.
Or in a logical place that's actually in 90% of hurricane path lines like New Orleans or any city located on the florida peninsula.
I love how Dude Guy is talking about the importance of protecting the city from hurricanes. Man, once every 25 years is a huge threat. We'd better save Houston with a big dome! Honestly, I think the ONLY reasons they used Houston are because 1.) we don't charge hotel tax for film crews, 2.) they can pretend we're not all used to the heat and humidity, and 3.) we had the Astrodome. The HFC has really done a great job with some of this, though. The first episode of Life After People (the series) was about Houston. In a related question, who really would've wanted to protect midtown 15 years ago?
Ok, freaky. Check out these words from a song by the Church Dome I saw this film about some people who lived in a dome In a beautiful field next to a river of foam I fell asleep before it was over I must have dreamt of the end They'd be young forever as long as they stayed in the dome But barbarians came and set fire to their home Exposed the dome dwellers to the outside They must have known it was the end All of their wealth couldn't save them All died inside the flames Destined to make that same old mistake God that's such a shame The barbarians picked through the ashes of the dome Then went on their way, yeah, continued to roam But a curse was laid upon them They must have known it was the end All of their strength couldn't save them All died inside the flood Destined to make that same old mistake The way of all flesh and blood I saw this film about some people who lived in a dome
We can barely get support for light-rail. If this thing ever gets hit by lightning, though, that'll be fun.
Pretty sure Comcast is behind this. Think how many people would have to get rid of their satellite dishes?? $$$ Baby!!
Galveston was called the NYC of the south at the time. Also they said the 1900 storm killed 8000 people, but they failed to mention 6000+ plus of those deaths were in Galveston not Houston. Of course not mentioning that fact was probably by design to try to add credibility to the episode.
!=I Saw it last night, terrible show with no research done prior to making it. 1) Downtown is not populated by 2 million people. 2) We get a major hurricane every 10-15 years which is on par with other coastal cities. 3) Humidity is annoying but not a killer especially considering how many people have moved to Houston in the last 10 years. I think they creators of this series were just throwing around random ideas and thought this one might stick in Houston Also if you've seen the waterworld aka "New" NOLA, this one is ridiculous moving the entire city offshore as to somehow prevent hurricanes. This show is good entertaining science fiction and nothing more.
