yea, the new york site is crazy with people trying to hook up. casual encounters to missed connections are insane with sexual energy. alot of perverts and men posing as women looking for suckers, though. watch out. still haven't made a REAL connection yet, but I have found apartments, jobs, and other musicians. i think houston and austin need word of mouth and they will both start to get big. i swear by craigslist, check it every day.
I only allowed myself to talk with one person online I had never met, and it was a huge mistake. People go out of their way to lie about everything from age to hobbies. It's not a good way to do things, imo. People always IM me about my profile being funny or whatever but I'm just curteous at best, ignoring usually.
I think you are referring to Nomar - I don't know what really happened there, so I will refrain from making a comment. But how much does that really have to do with that thread?
i have a horrible feeling about this. but on the bright side... maybe it was love at first sight. and in her moment of desperation, the guy was the first thing that popped up in her head. you know what? stranger things have happened. probably they really hit it off last night.
Why wouldn't you use the internet to find love? It is a tool to communicate and to communicate with large numbers of like minded people. Most people choose their life companions from the relativly small pool of their college, church or bars they frequent. It's no wonder 50% of these relationships fail. If I were 'in the market' I'd be all over Match.com telling the truth about my personality, what type of girl I'm looking for and posting my mug 'as is' so that if I got some responses my chances of being shot down were at least reduced. Plus it would be better than those blind dates because you could check out the chick before accepting ( though I'm sure they don't post full length photos...maybe you should include "must have ankles").
OMG, that was quite possibly the funniest thing I ever read. "Rhinocerouses don't have shirts." "I put on my robe and wizard's hat."
Rules of Internet Dating Rule #1: If she says she's "thick" it means she's pushing 2 bills. Rule #2: Run as fast as you can at the slightest hint of any drama. Rule #3: See rules 1 & 2. BTW pele, this whole "accident" thing could be a sign of things to come. Tread carefully brother.
I've done it twice, and both times I was so ashamed I had to lock the door and swear myself to secrecy on the incident. And both times, the girls turned into some of the best relationships I've ever had. I don't know if that's a commentary on my pitiful experience with women or just a weird coincidence, but it's true. I don't understand how my luck was so good, but I would agree that it's best to be UNBELIEVABLY careful. Oh yeah, and the advice to wait a while--VERY good. The first girl it was like 2 or 3 months before we met up (but she lived in Maryland, in my defense)--and the second girl about two months. Good luck, man.
well i think the reason she called me first was becase she just got finished seeing me. and also the entire reason she drove from san antonio to austin in the first place was to see me. i guess i was shocked to hear from her because she was in a accident; not because she called me.
I personally feel it is currently used as a last resort for lonely people or for people uncomfortable in social situations, although if everyone did it and it was socially acceptable, then it could lead to a much more efficient meeting grounds for people.
Mrs. JB and I met a more traditional way - in college. However, I met my business partner (Clutch), our graphic designer (rocketeer) AND both the rest of our contract staff over the net.
It's like a blind date, you never know what will happen. Blind dates have been happening for a long time now.
I met a girl off the net once who *warned* me that she was retaining water. That didn't explain her calves popping out of the back of her heels are the size 16 mini skirt she tried to pry herself into.
I've done it, about 5% ugly, 60% Average, 35% hot. I mean it's pretty easy given you have their picture. On NBC they said the divorce rate is up because of online dating, simply because people aren't afraid to leave anymore, because they know there are people to date now if they do leave.
Jorge, you know there are sites where you don't have to pay their airfare from Moscow, for example this one: http://www.friendsbeyondthewall.com/ppbtw/penpal_home.html http://www.friendsbeyondthewall.com/ppbtw/auto/photo_female.shtml
