Yea when Howard shoots them (not that they're hard to watch, I'm scared he'll miss :grin, I don't mind 'em at all when Harden gets 'em  I've disliked Patriots for more than 10 years now, but I would love if Texans can do what they've done in all those years. Give me a NBA champions, SB or both they can hate all they want.
They were pretty exciting in transition though, especially early on. The Wade-Lebron connection was great.
they haters man. Was surprised how much the bucks commentators loves the rockets. Talked about how the high scoring offense draws fans then also how our defense has helped grind out wins as well.
Who da heck let this Gristlies fan get a clutch account? If we had this same system rollin with ALL our starters, we would be murdering everyone with a 20 point differential. PNR Harden/Dwight, DMonte sky hookin, Hard 'n one, Cannon Ballin, Papa nick handin out dishes, and not to mention when Tjones gets back and Clint Capella will be good for his Block Party debut near playoff time. It'll be '94, '95 2.0.
free throws and jacking up threes are boring to watch no matter how you try to spin it. i hope once the team is healthy they have a real offense going
Before the Rockets, I never knew people hated the 3 pointer. In fact, I’ve always thought it was an exciting play. Fans always loved it when 3 pointers allowed lesser teams to upset the powerhouses with great 3 point shooting. The Spurs get nothing but praise for “inventing” the corner 3. But when the Rockets shoot 3s? Suddenly it’s the ugliest form of basketball ever.
The media are basically ex players from the 90's or ex people who have been forced out of the league by the Moreyverse. Look at ESPN, JVG (whose a houston homer still mind you), Collins? Karl? Add that to Dwight (who turned down LA, Dallas, GSW and Atlanta to add insult to injury) Morey is despised by basketball people, because he's basically costing them all their jobs, lol Look at what played out in Philly, they hired a "basketball guy", media ran hit pieces on how much Morey and stats sucks, a year later, he's gone, his assistant of 6 years is hired as GM and the media, especially ex 76ers guys like Charles go on about how much stats suck.
Put Howard and Harden in a Celtics jersey and Grantland will be writing dozens of articles on how beautiful their games are.
This is what's scary about James and his potential, it seems like his shot has fallen this year but he's facilitating the ball, creates plays for others, able to create calls driving the lane and a very underrated passer where as his first year it was ISO ball. The media can hate all they want I'm enjoying watching Harden slowly becomes one of the all time Rockets.
The Spurs were boring back when Duncan first came into the league. It was nothing but halfcourt basketball. Running the shot clock down. Tough Defense that fouled a lot. And lot's of whining to the refs when they didn't get calls. Modern Spurs however are pretty fun to watch. Pretty beautiful ball they are playing these days i.e. last year's finals.
Mostly THIS. ...I don't know what exactly happened, but I think a number of sports writers felt like Howard burned them during the Dwightmare. I have seen writers at varying times imply that Dwight would tell them one thing in private, they would report it, and he would then deny ever saying it, and it would hurt the credibility of said reporter. Those are not the types of bridges you burn - those guys shape your public image. Harden and the rest of the Rockets are just collateral damage. Separate from that I do however think there is a lot of professional hating/jealousy on Daryl Morey by other league decision makers - particularly those old school basketball guys who are offended by the coverage of Morey when he hasn't won anything yet. While there are more and more stats guys in the league every day, I would say the old school ex-player/friend of the family/nepotistic hired staffers are still the majority. It's not the media angle we are hearing every day, but it seems like whenever an operational level insider is quoted, the gist is "Morey isn't as smart as he thinks".
It's true - the media hated when Pops called the Hack a Shaq strategy. Everyone talked about changing the rules, etc. But if we didn't have the Hack a poor free throw shooter strategy, we wouldn't have this gem. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z2LRDO4jiBo
The Rockets run the R&R with a healthy dose of DDMO thrown in. And yes, it is a real NBA offense. In fact, when healthy, the Rockets are brilliant on offense. Threes-rim-FTs. It is a gorgeous thing to watch. When I watch other teams I face palm a lot. He took that contested mid-ranged jumper WHY?
The media dislike the Rockets. Embrace it. We are forever going to be proving them wrong, so enjoy it.
We ran some pretty atrocious offenses under Jeff Van Gundy, when Alston, Head and Bowen were out there chucking up bricks. Lots of NBA teams have had ugly offenses. I watch a lot of sports and I'm tempted to change the channel when any basketball game turns into a free-throw parade. I REALLY don't care for our brand of "pass it around the three point line until it goes out of bounds" when Howard isn't in the game, but it's not all bad. Our new brand of "actually try to play defense" has made the games funner to watch on its own.
When Howard is gone we are forced to pick... Live by three pointers, or die by three pointers. And before that can play out, Harden gets fouled every time he drives.
In terms of entertaining value, the media is right on. I can easily name 5-8 teams more entertained than the Rockets for watching purpose. Mavs - best offense in the league. GSW - very balance good offense and defense and has probably the best back court in the league. Cavs - when they are doing well, they are good to watch, when they are not, I enjoy to watch them suffer. Lakers - a total train wreck, much higher entertainment value than most of the NBA teams. NOP - Yes, Davis is the best player in the league, even most of his teammates suck donkey ass, its still fun to watch his games. I also found the Nuggets games very interesting as you just can not guess which version of the Nuggets will show up that night. I enjoyed watching the Jazz/Magic in the early season but now they started to suck really bad. Finally, I always enjoy watching the Spurs on the road being a dog against the "top teams", there are always entertainment value there, other than betting.
This is fun to watch until teams actually start to play defense during the playoffs. Then the threes will stop falling and layups are harder and harder to come by as teams will foul more frequently and force us to earn it at the stripe. And we all know how much we suck at FTs. The only person who can shoot the midrange right now is Harden. And he won't be that wide open during the playoffs.
