The Spurs have been in the playoffs every year for 20 years. Kawhi has been out the whole season, yet they are still in the playoffs. Kawhi doesn't get this "product of the system" stuff. They love to snipe at Harden even when he is crushing the league. Every year.
Stephen A taking passing out of the equation when talking about offense, Kellerman saying Harden is "barely" a better shooter than LBJ...What are these guys smoking?...cuz I want to get my hands on some of it.
Interesting that some of the media uses D'Antoni's system as a negative when evaluating Harden. I mean imagine if he had a system that created higher opportunities for him to stat pad his way to averaging a triple double.
How are Harden's numbers compared to when McHell was here? I remember him being pretty good MDA's system is also basically "give the ball to Jimmy the Beard and stand in the corner"
These guys are no better than political commentators. They all get the same talking points and run out there and regurgitate them. If Harden is merely benefiting from D'Antoni's system, then why was he the runner up in the MVP voting in 2015? That team had McFail on the sidelines. The same sorry excuse for a coach who got sh-tcanned 11 games into the following season and has yet to be hired by any other team since. And let's not forget that Harden's current coach was slumming it as an assistant in Philly(before they were respectable) after failed stops in New York and LA, so clearly not everyone in the NBA was enamored with his "system".
...Yes. Yes they did. Edit: To elaborate slightly, acknowledging that Harden has been doing this sort of thing all along, repeatedly dragging the Rockets to better records than predicted and being one of the great scorers in the league, would mean acknowledging that they were just plain wrong or ignorant about how good he's been all along, which is something the talking heads will never admit. To keep the narrative consistent that Harden is an underwhelming, unlikable player who wins the wrong way, there has to be some kind of new element responsible for his "overnight" success, which is why they're pushing the MDA/system idea.
He's just basing it off of 3PT%, which shows how ignorant he is. Even if two players shoot similar percentages, the number of attempts and makes matter, because it shows the ability to create and make his own shot. If you're just a catch-and-shoot type of a player, you can never average 10 three attempts per game while maintaining decent percentage, because most of them would be heavily contested. Shot creation - or the ability to get the shot off - is itself a great skill. LeBron wouldn't average 36~37% from the three point line if he was taking 10 threes a game like Harden. A role player like Beverley will never shoot close to 40% if he had to create his own shot like Harden.
It’s a completely ridiculous argument. ALL coaches need great players to win. It’s not the other way around.
And every year Harden takes in the noise during the offseason and works on his game. It's so monstrous, I saw some writer mentions offhand he's peaked at 28. Right....Great motivation candy. His stock in 5 years is like Amazon's. Not a bubble.
Media can take a big L and suck some D's When McFail was here. they said Harden only looked good because of the fast pace and his the only ball handler so he has all the possessions Now with Cp3 and Harden's minutes down, Harden is even better. Screw em
I have been seeing this for so long. Can enough people tweet this to Morey? Its a talking point NOBODY counters All you have to do is say "2015 under McHale." NONE of these guys do their ****ing homework
I love how when Mannix brings up that Harden was already playing at an MVP level under that dumbass McHale, Cowherd just shifts his argument straight away to "well, LeBron can do everything Harden can do..." They are creating controversy because the MVP race is super boring right now. Kellerman was pretty much wearing Rockets red for a couple of months and now is anti-Harden all of a sudden? You already know what's going on
