Weapons are gameplay elements. The only real perk that provides players with TOO much of an advantage is Commando.
Picked up this game at midnight about to try selling it on craigslist. The multiplayer is real bad IMO. Too much camping and sniping, the maps are much smaller than battlefield, the spawning after dying is pretty bad. I have tried playing domination and versus but it's all the same I personally like to move around a bit when I play but whenever I do I get shot. I sure hope Black Ops is an improvement from Medal of Honor. I believe there is only like 4 maps on this game as well so that adds to the despise I have for this game. If I would rate this game it would be between a 2-3. My roommates have played the campaign and they have enjoyed it but I only enjoy playing multiplayer.
I liked the concept also...limiting the number of times one can use it would have been a great idea. Or, increasing the time it takes to make the switch...30 seconds. Something along those lines where it would discourage people from overusing it. Those are things that IW could have worked on...but they failed to care.
Might be, depending on what kind of style you like to play. Like others said it is more of a team style type of game. My main problem is there is a lot of open area and there is a lot of hills, and boxes where players can camp out and wait for you to enter. Snipers usually pick me off kind of quickly. I like the guns they have, but that's about it. If you are good a sniping I think this is a decent game. This game just doesn't fit my playing style.
Another thing I'd like to add...regarding the killstreaks that are present in Black Ops, they dont build up like they did in MW2. So, although killstreaks are still present, they are much harder to achieve. I dont know how many times I got 5 kills in MW2, only to sit in a corner and end up with a 20+ killstreak. Reason #67516 that Black Ops > MW2
Wish I could even play. EA servers unavailable to me, just like during beta...I hate that I paid for this.
Thankfully I let my 360 friends get this first and have heeded their warning not to buy it. I hear the spawn camping is crazy.
This has probably been posted somewhere.. But for those who haven't seen.. <object id="vid_4ca618692db5b95ec200d4a7" class="ign-videoplayer" width="480" height="270" data="http://media.ign.com/ev/prod/embed.swf" type="application/x-shockwave-flash"><param name="movie" value="http://media.ign.com/ev/prod/embed.swf" /><param name="allowfullscreen" value="true" /><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always" /><param name="bgcolor" value="#000000" /><param name="flashvars" value="url=http://www.ign.com/videos/2010/10/01/call-of-duty-black-ops-multiplayer-customization-trailer?objectid=82254"/></object><div style="width:480px"><a href="http://www.ign.com/videos/2010/10/01/call-of-duty-black-ops-multiplayer-customization-trailer?objectid=82254">More Call of Duty: Black Ops Videos</a></div> This shows that in Black Ops pretty much everything is gonna be customizable. Gonna be badass!!!
FWIW, I hated this game at first and now I love it. It's a little clunky but I like it. It has a gritty feel, and it feels realistic. You definitely can't run around the map looking for enemies. I also like the sound. When a gunfight is going on I feel like the sound simulates what a battlefield is probably like. Things I hate: 1) Spawn killing: It's crazy. A few of the maps you can easily get pinned and it's impossible to get out if your team won't work with you 2) Lobbies: If you get stuck on a bad team and a bunch of people quit it doesn't refill the game lobby. There's also no easy way to leave between games without a forfeit once you've joined a lobby.
So MoH sold 1.5M copies in 5 days: http://news.ea.com/portal/site/ea/i...gId=1012492&newsId=20101019006817&newsLang=en Seems to be actual sold-to-customer numbers, not shipped. So the game doesn't appear to be all that good, yet tons of people still bought it. FPS + modern combat + tons of marketing = guaranteed millions in sales? Looks like it. EA (and Activision for that matter) must be excited. Don't even have to worry about that whole "make a good game" thing.
I actually love the Battlefield series because its the opposite of what everyone else is putting out there. They're not run and gun arcade style shooters like the MW series' or the new Medal of Honor & COD. (I call these spray & pray games). Battlefield is a lot more realistic with actual bullet drop, real world maps & a destructable environment . Not to mention it's more team based and geared toward team statistics instead of individual accomplishments. (ie real war) What I don't get is why all these publishers keep producing war games based on individual accomplishments. The last time I checked, war involved more than just 1 guy camping in a corner somewhere waiting for someone to walk by. War involves teammates and communication to say the least. If I want a arcade game I'll go get one of the COD games. But when I'm in the mood for a more realistic and lifelike experience, I'm going to a Battlelfield game no doubt about it.
Agreed. I hate playing games where you die every 5 seconds. I love moving around, knifing peeps....sniping, or moving around to protect / capture areas....but not in TINY ass maps where you die...spawn..die spawn...spawn killed...spawn killed....spawn killed....spawn killed....spawn..die.. MW was a fun game, I throughly enjoyed it. MW2...not so much. MOH...not at all. Bad Company 2 is fun. I just can't wait till Battle Field 3...if it's anything like BF2...but with better graphics, less glitchy, etc.
(New news?) Black opps leaked....map list etc. http://n4g.com/news/629960/black-ops-officially-leaked-new-footage-found-hooked-gamers http://n4g.com/news/630014/call-of-duty-black-ops-full-multiplayer-map-list
Going out on a limb I see. Those sales aren't really meant to be that impressive. Well...except for the fact that the game doesn't seem to be very good, and was basically EA cashing in on the CoD popularity. Unless you were implying that Black Ops will break the record for the worst best-selling game. Hmm...
