Of course I'm biased against CoD. I'm biased against all Activision games (yes...even StarCraft and Diablo sadly...though I may try to ignore those...Blizzard is a bit different). As well as any games that follow this kind of model (more concerned about putting a game out every year to sell copies rather than being concerned with quality). I don't have problems admitting that. Having sad that, this is a fairly recent trend, and also generally something I just joke about (e.g., haha Cod Sucks, Activision sucks, Kotick sucks, etc.). Not something I'll purposely be misleading about in arguments (e.g., The Godfather has better graphics, Lair is 10x better, etc.). FWIW, I was negative against CoD4 before all this. You can see some of my comments here about the game back in 2007ish I guess, and I think they were more or less the same (IIRC anyway). And finally, you do realize I was only talking single-player campaign right (which was the context of the original comment)? Couldn't really care less about its multiplayer. If you want to say that the MP revolutionized the FPS genre and gaming in general, go right ahead. I don't really care to disagree. If you want to say the same for the single-player, then we might have some disagreements there. Compared to the games I mentioned earlier, I don't see much in its campaign that could have possibly revolutionized gaming or is any way "special" (maybe you can prove me wrong?). And I doubt it was the reason the game did so well. Probably did well in spite of it. Could probably just drop the campaign or just make it worse (yeah, it could be worse), and the game would still sell like crazy.
Its freaking awesome.. It shoots extremely straight with little recoil. It won't kill someone with like 2 or 3 shots, but it shoots so fast that it balances out.. I defintely recommend getting the reflex sight on it.. Also, is anybody else playing the campaign?? I really like it, its really good. And if yall are playing the campaign, is it just me or do the guns in the campaign feel way better than the ones in the multiplayer??
Ran across the link below in stock news (which the link really has nothing to do with). Kind of an eye opener for me as I'd always considered Treyarch to be the little brother compared to Infinity Ward. http://playstationlifestyle.net/201...h-not-recognized-enough-for-modern-warfare-2/
I obviously don't know the real deal here, but I can certainly read this a few different ways. I can see it as Activision trying to make sure their franchise of CoD games continues to sell well with the well publicized departure of the main figures in Infinity Ward over the last year or so. Also, for those that absolutely bagged on MW2, does that mean Treyarch is just as much to blame on it's flaws? Is it to also say Infinity Ward lends it's talents and such to Treyarch's releases, ie. Black Ops this time around?
A good point, after clicking through to the source material, that was really more the message of the article: http://www.computerandvideogames.com/article.php?id=275453?cid=OTC-RSS&attr=CVG-General-RSS
I know there used to be a thread with people exchanging gamertags, but I can't search so help me out. I'm interested in playing Black Ops on Playstation Network with some of my fellow ClutchFans. What is your PSN? Mine as stated in my last post is HugoStiglitz77 K/D at the moment is 1.25, but on the rise. I started really slow and had a .89 ratio after the first 3 days of gaming. I was finding the adjustment from MW2 to Black Ops to be quite a challenge.
Same here. My ratio is pretty bad, and I'm adjusting as well. I was trying to find a weapon suited to my "virtual shooting" style hahaha. Think I found it with the galil and iron sights. Now that I'm playing better and enjoying it more, I still (so far) enjoyed MW2 more even with it's flaws.
Why do you say that? Genuinely curious. Is it because MW2 was easier? I say that because I have two friends that I play with that prefer MW2...but their reasoning was that it was easier to get killstreaks and they enjoyed watching their killstreaks do a lot of work for them. Their k/d ratios were also significantly higher in MW2...they had a 1.05 and a .92 in that game, while they are both rocking sub 0.70 in Black Ops...so dying more = less fun for them. They also liked to stay in a room, protect themselves with claymores...and then use scavenger to keep protecting the room they were in. In Black Ops, you dont have that option...and staying around in one area for too long will assure you of death, so you have to be on the go. What flaws do you see with Black Ops multiplayer? I think the RC car should have been a 5 killstreak. Thats probably my biggest gripe with the game because every minute I hear one of those cars driving around. Other than that, I feel like its such a balanced game, that I cant really knock any part of it...at least not yet.
**** the RC-XD cars... atleast 15 in each multiplayer game. They definitely need a patch to fix this issue, because the maps are infested with these little devils. Plus, it's essentially an automatic kill if you know what the hell you're doing. I agree with rezdawg... it should require 5-6 kills to get one.
The Chopper Gunner is absolutely terrible. Total waste of 9 kills in a row. There is no red diamond on the enemy, so you can't see anyone, and I got shot down after about 5 seconds in the air.
Yeah, think it might just be more of Kotick trying to make the brand seem strong. Besides, I wouldn't trust him...or actually, maybe I would. Now that I think about it, not sure he really lies. Seems more brutally honest than anything (lets make money and charge people monthly fees for playing CoD!). Not sure how much they actually worked together. Maybe on a design level, there was some cooperation, but I was under the impression things could have been better. IIRC, some Treyarch devs were acting like they didn't get any MW2 code until Black Ops was almost done. That was their excuse for not implementing some of the features that were done in MW2. Of course, those same features are available in plenty of other games (and I think maybe the PS3 SDK perhaps?), so maybe just take that with a grain of salt. Always good to come up with excuses that sound good whenever you get called out on something.
<br> Chopper gunner is hands down the best killstreak in the game... I get pretty much 10+ kills with it every single time. You might have been playing in a lobby where everyone had ghost pro. Even still, if you know the general area of their spawn it's just spray and pray. And at only 9 kills for the streak it is pretty easy to get in most every match.
Dogs are pretty easy to kill, especially with their sound cues when they get near... Now, if they were completely silent, then they would be worth the kills.
Okay nevermind what I said about the Chopper Gunner. Everyone I played before had Ghost Pro so it sucked. AK74 with Rapid Fire and Suppressor is my best option right now.
