DAYTONA BEACH SHORES, Fla. – A 3½-year-old child having difficulty getting potty trained was brought to a Florida public safety department on successive days last October and placed in jail, a high-ranking officer told a caseworker during an interview.

On the second occasion, Oct. 6, 2022, the child was also handcuffed.

The child was taken to the the Daytona Beach Shores Public Safety Department.

"He was crying. I was getting the response I expected from him," Lt. Michael Schoenbrod told the Department of Children and Families caseworker, body-cam footage from a Volusia County Sheriff's Office deputy shows.

The boy promised to never again poop his pants, Schoenbrod said in the interview.

It is unclear whether Schoenbrod and another high-ranking Daytona Beach Shores officer, Det. Sgt. Jessica Long, who brought the child to the jail on Oct. 5, faced discipline from the city.

The Daytona Beach News-Journal, part of the USA TODAY network, has obtained copies of memos written by Public Safety Director Michael Fowler to each informing them of a professional standards investigation.

But the results of any such investigation have not yet been made public. Fowler said in an email Tuesday he is consulting with the city attorney before commenting.

That looks like most suburban/exurb neighborhoods where the wild areas are being taken down to build homes. If you drive around my neighborhood around 4-5am, it's like a rabbit festival. And they end up killing grass and eating flowers. Little bastids. Of course we now do have some well-fed coyotes and bobcats. *sigh*

Peacocks in Pinecrest: Plan approved to control ‘critical mass' of colorful birds
The plan involves humanely trapping the male peacocks and sterilizing them.

The pilot program involves humanely trapping the male peacocks and sterilizing them.

“One male could father six or seven or 10 nests," veterinarian Dan Harris said. "So if we can sterilize one male and keep them dominant, now we’re preventing six to 10 nests from reproducing. The females will still lay eggs but they will be infertile."

Harris will perform the vasectomies, leaving in place their testosterone and dominance.

Florida man to give vasectomies to peacocks
A Florida community has a plan to try to slow the growth of the birds that thrill some people and annoy others.

Shielded by county law for decades, peacocks in Pinecrest, Florida, are no longer off limits to trappers, and Don Harris is eager to get his hands on the birds.

Pinecrest lined up Harris to perform hundreds of rapid peafowl vasectomies after the village secured an exemption this week from Miami-Dade County’s strict rules against trapping the large birds.

Same here. Not only do they eat plants / vegetable gardens, dig holes in the yard for their nests, but they leave dead spots in the grass as bad as the dogs......

I moved some spot lights further away from our trees in the back of our property and it was so hot outside I didn't bother to bury the wires (solar powered but 2 peices)....and of course, those little bastards chewed up every cable.

Yeah, they're all kinds of fun during Christmas time and they chew through lights. I bought a trap before I realized how many there are. And if I put the trap in my front yard, I'm sure somebody would just steal it. lol. There's one or two that come into the backyard, I may try to catch, though.
