I have spent the most time in Orlando and Miami.

I have also spent a few weeks in Naples and Lake Mary.

This is Florida, you're underestimating how far things will go.

I actually can't decide if that guy is an idiot or not. I heard they are generally docile, but that sure is something else.

He is crazy for just picking up a wild critter like that, but I could understand having one as a pet.

I don't know if that couple is sane or completely bored, but that baldy seemed to have good intentions.

Hope they got good medical insurance for random diseases

I had two of those in our yard the other week. One was still alive, but badly injured (I'll spare you the pictures), the other one was already dead. My trapper (who removed the one that was still alive in the same way the Alaska lady did - I had hired him to remove some of the iguanas - they poop everywhere) said that it must have gotten into a fight with "something". Seems like the "something" was actually a coyote (I asked in the neighborhood's facebook group and someone posted a security camera snapshot of a coyote...).

    Welcome to Florida, I guess.

These are pretty much normal in the South. With all the building and new houses going up, they usually are forced into or remain in areas that are now occupied by humans. There are bobcats and coyotes running around my neighborhoods in Texas all the time. People from out-of-state post pics like they just spotted Bigfoot. The craziest thing I saw was a mountain lion roaming around DFW. Now, that's rare.

Yes, I guess I am just not used to having all these animals in my garden. Hope not to discover any snakes, gators or venomous spiders there, ever.

At some point you'll encounter a black racer snake. Non venomous.

In Florida, I would think snakes are fairly common, although not necessarily venomous. I wouldn't reach into bushes or gardens that are thick with leaves without maybe poking a stick in and looking first. lol. Especially be careful after storms and during the rainy season. Then in the winter watch for iguanas falling out of trees. But as always, throughout the year, beware of Florida Man.
