hmmm, i don't recall anyone implying that, can you refresh my memory? personally, i just want things to stabilize so we can bring our boys home. what is your timetable for this "thriving secular democracy", when can we expect to get our troops out of harm's way?
Of course plans for a constitution, policing duties, reconstruction, future government set up, elections, and details all the way down to garbage collection were actually planned for before our troops ever set foot in Iraq. It was all done by the State Department, but the Pentagon and the Whitehouse ordered General Jay Garner the person who was first in charge of reconstructing Iraq to ignore those plans. It is ashame. Follow the links to find out more. Things were planned, and then ignored. Think how much could have been avoided. It is really sad. I'm sure any supporters of our troops such as yourself would be angered by this kind of horrible decision making and lack of accountability on something that enlarged the numbers of troops and time that they are required to be in Iraq. There is no way to gauge how many troops this cost us. http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/pages/frontline/shows/truth/interviews/garner.html http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/pages/frontline/shows/truth/interviews/
