Wow, Dylan is actually playing at the rodeo? Man, I'm actually kind of disappointed there. The rodeo is such a barbaric thing, I just can't believe Bobbie is actually supporting it....
Yes he is playing the Rodeo. I can't quite believe it either, but it means that I am attending the Rodeo this year for the first time since 1972. RMT just cannot miss longhair hippie night at the Rodeo, and you get a Dylan concert on top of it. YEE-HAW!! I check out the Pollstar website regularly, and I noticed in late December that Dylan would be playing Louisiana, Arkansas, Oklahoma right before and right after the rodeo. I mentioned this to a friend of mine who is a member of one of the Rodeo committees, and I said to him "wouldn't it be cool if Bob Dylan played the rodeo this year?". My friend said "aww it'll never happen". The reason most stated as to why Dylan decided to play the rodeo is that this year is the last year for the Rodeo in the Astrodome, and the Astrodome was the site of one of Dylan's most famous concerts, the 1975 Houston stop for "Night of the Hurricane". Personally, I just think he was touring in the right part of the country at the right time, and I do know that lately he has been gigging at alot of state fair-type events around the country, especially in the midwest and in California.
Yeah, I know about the state fair thing cause he played at the Iowa state fair the weekend I moved to Iowa and there was just no way I could go. I was very mad. I still think my favorite Dylan memory is seeing him with The Brian Setzer Orchestra. Seeing him sing Ballad of a Thin Man with the swing band backing him was just awesome.
