    Define "Contend".

The Crackwagon will be lucky to make it to a Wild Card Game.

Either the Redskins or Giants will win the NFC East this year.

TO will go TO around midseason, and Bill Parcells will resign in disgust next February.

    Mark my words.

I think the Cowboys should do well...HOwever, I believe TO will be a distraction and sink what's left of that ship...

The Texans will lose in Dallas, but it will be an entertaining game...I'll be there...

What you insult throwing 19-10 yelling people don't understand is I'm a fan of both teams and 19-10 didn't bother me one bit.

I was happy for the Texans. I still want the Texans to do well.

But I'm not myopic enough to run around yelling 19-10 like it's some sort of badge of honor everytime something about the cowboys come up.

Here's what's really funny. When I had Cowboys season tickets and drove up to Dallas from Houston for every game, people in Dallas were always happy to discuss the Oilers and most even pulled for them to win. There was no Dallas hatred of Houston. But in Houston the Oiler (now Texan) only fans hate Dallas. Why? I think it's envy. Success Envy. That's the only reason the hatred doesn't go both ways. The Oilers (now Texans) didn't have success that other teams would be envious of.

So go ahead and say Superbowls don't matter and the only thing that does is 19-10. But as a fan of both teams I know what really matters is winning superbowls and so far the score among my 2 teams is Dallas 5 Houston 0.

As a Texan fan I'm not satisified with 19-10. I won't be happy until they have a winning season, make the playoffs and win a Superbowl.

My hatred for everything and anything cowboys related is completely seperate from my love of the Texans (and formerly the Oilers). I don't hate the cowboys because I'm from Houston. I hate the cowboys for so many reasons...

    I can't stand the self-imposed "America's Team" bulls***
I can't stand the fans that fail to recognize when they really do suck
I can't stand Jerry Jones, TO, Michael Irvin, Emmitt Smith, and the rest of the crack heads that have or do play for them (although, I was a fan of Randy White)...
I can't stand the city of Dallas

I still think the 19-10 victory was a great moment for the Texans and the city of Houston. I'm not living in the past, just as I'm not still reveling in the Rockets victorious seasons in the mid-90's. Dallas fan can't seem to let it go. It's been 12 freaking years. I hope the Texans slaughter the cowboys. I hope the cowboys go 0-16.

    Ditto.

    VooDooPope,

Don't you think your attitude about that first game would change just a tad if you weren't a fan of the Cowboys?

I guess everyone's experience with people from Dallas has been different than my own.

I loved the first game (19-10). Maybe I'm just disappointed that 4 years later it's all we as Texans fans have had as far as success goes and it gets over played by the haters.

And Leroy420 put down the pipe. Emmitt was never a crack head. :D

Back when I was a North East Texas boy, the Dallas Cowboys were a class organization. The owner was never mentioned, the coach was a man whom everyone respected and the players were lovable with misfits drafted in the 7th round out of Sonoma State playing next to stalwart tobaccy spitters drafted #1 overall.

Now the are just a bunch of showboats and mercenaries playing for a cosmetically enhanced hilbilly in a city where bravado is prized over accomplishment.

Now by genetics I will always pull for the Cowboys against any team but the Texans. I want to have the Texans just push the Cowboys right out of my mind but they have to earn it. At present they just don't have any players you can identify with; Dunta maybe but who else? AJ has been too quiet on and off the field. If they would have drafted Vince....I would have been all Texans all the time. But since they didn't they are going to have to show me that the Kubiak Way is the right way. Something I can pump my fist over, that's what builds loyalty.

So here's to an All-Texas Super Bowl.

I just went back and checked.

Nope, even with 5 Superbowls the Texans embarrassed the Cryboys on national television.

When it comes to Houston vs Irving on the field the ONLY thing that matters is the scoreboard. Houston has it.

    19-10.

You just can't take it, can you?

To be fair, the team didn't come up with that title, although they did adopt it. Your other reasons are valid, though. :)

Swing and a miss. That game was classic David vs. Goliath, a Cowboys team with a rich, winning history versus a Texans team playing its first game. That these two teams happen to be interstate rivals elevates the upset to "a story for the ages" (well, round these parts). We all love the underdog. USA vs. Russia in Olympic hockey. Denver vs. Seattle in the NBA playoffs. Seattle vs. the Yankees in the MLB playoffs. Heck, Disney makes a LIVING releasing sports underdog movies. So, whether you like it or not, that game will be mentioned for generations. Heck, the Texans could lose the next 50 games to Dallas, and our children's children's children will STILL be posting "19-10, SUCKO!" to a holographic ClutchFans board using their brain waves. Look, if we have to deal with stupid Frank Reich and his ridiculous heroics to the end of time, you can deal with this.

    Oh, and 19-10... sucko.

Not my kids they pull for both teams.

Thats what you people don't understand. I have to deal with the buffalo collapse also. I was a Cowboys and Oilers fan and now I'm a Cowboys and Texans fan.

Oh Vescey I expected so much better from you...

I'm telling you it's nothing to hang your hat on and it doesn't have the effect on me or any other Cowboys fan that you would hope it does.

It was a regular season victory. Nothing more nothing less. They all count the same in the standings.

I'm a Broncos fan first and I guess a Titans fan second since they are the team located in my state. I don't have any vested interest in the Texans, but seeing them beat the Cowgirls 19-10 in their first regular season game was one of the most awesome things I have ever seen.

It is my sincere hope that loudmouth Owens causes Parcells to quit and that team becomes a gigantic colossal mess. I hate the Cowgirls as much - maybe even more than I do the Yankees and that is some pretty strong hate. And my hate has nothing to do with a rivalry between Houston and Dallas - it is because that team is obnoxious beyond belief. America's team?? My ass....

I love the Cowboys but I like the Texans also. I grew up watching the Cowboys with my dad and never stopped. I dont think they will go all the way this year but I think they have a great shot at playoffs. There are too many "ifs" that we will have to see played out to see how great they can really be.

Well then, with regards to the Texans, the Cryboys don't even have THAT to hang their hat on. And for somebody that claims "19-10" has no effect on them, you sure have spent alot of time here trying (and failing miserably) to convince everybody...that it has no effect on you.

Really?! Not according to the Cryboys Darren Woodson who said, and I quote directly from the cover of the Aug 19, 2002 issue of SI, "We've got to win that game." (emphasis Woodson's)

Guess it meant a little more to Darren, huh? Actually, since he was humiliated, 19-10, on national television, it probably meant a lot more than just a regular season loss.

    19-10.

It was still just one win for one of my teams and one loss for the other. And with regards to this seasons matchup you won't hear me in here bragging like one team just won the superbowl regardless of who wins.
