the GARM is the best when it’s like this...this place sucks and looks stupid when we have “Trade Harden,” “Fire the Coach,” “I Want to Murder Ryan Anderson” threads that invite hordes of trolls

Don't feel bad about undervaluing D'Antoni. That's what made him an undervalued asset, and a classic Morey hire. From 5/27/16:

    The question is:

Can our halfcourt defense deal with anybody?

I love the swag. Love watching these guys play. But it is December 3rd. In the playoffs teams are gonna slow it down, move the ball and make us defend while they chew the clock. Run and gun teams are always fun to watch. But a championship team has to be good enough defensively against ball control offenses like the Spurs, Grizz, Jazz, Celtics, and....yes, the Warriors, who are able to play either style very efficiently. Are we good enough defensively in half court sets? Better keep watching and asking that question.

    Is this true tho?

I’m pretty sure I’ve heard a multiple of times that our half court defense is one of the best in the league, it’s our transition defense that isn’t good and drags down our overall defense ranking.

I’m pretty positive actually, I just couldn’t find the stats to back it.

Pretty sure Your just puffing smoke out your ass, per usual.

I’m sure you can break down every team and find flaws basketballholic.

Warriors: Casspi and Nick Young (113 career DRtg) have never been know for defense. Jordan Bell is raw.
Are Looney and MaCaw improving? Can they be exploited by D’Antoni and the Rockets?
What CP3 gives the Rockets is 48 minutes of “you better set your defense every play” against
Harden and/or Chris. Limits resting defenders just when Harden rests. Do the Rockets finally
have a PG that can make Curry work defensively.....possibly affecting his shooting?

Cavs: Isaiah Thomas is only about 5”10” and is susceptible to a forced switched and posted up.
Defenders will have to be rotated. Exposing a 3 point shooter somewhere along the perimeter or a
rim slashing dunker. Now Capela is hitting his FT’s at a better clip. Rule of thumb is 50% of your FT’s
costs those employing the hack-a-Capela ploy. Something like 1.000 ppp is successful.

Spurs: LaMarcus Aldridge is playing like his days in Portland. Yeah. I didn’t like the way he played
in Portland. Usually accounts for an early exit in the playoffs. No more four headed monster of
LMA/Gasol/Dedmon/David Lee outnumbering Nene/Capela. Neither Gasol nor LMA are known for
great defense. Yes they can block a shot or two; but mewh. They are liabilities on the perimeter.

We could dig deeper on each team and get into specifics. But I will wait as we get near the playoffs
before I get down and dirty on the topic. A lot can happen between then and now.

We should credit Les for giving it the green light. I don't think Fertitta would of hired D'Antoni, he most likely would hire Van Gundy, Cassell or Elie. It is because they have ties to Houston.
