Well if they were friends before those allegations surfaced, it might have been Clemens attempt to try and help him salvage his life...which it does state he did in the article. Agreed that the rape issue has no bearing on this case just like Pettite's corroboration should have none (other than the fact it shows McNamee has a history of allegedly lying)
I don't see how you can on one hand say (paraphrasing) "EVERYONE knew that roids were rampant in MLB but no one cared" and then get all upset about people assuming that an MLB player who fits the profile perfectly of a roid user actually did roids. One might call me "baffled" about this. Max to everyone: Leave MLB A-LONE!!!
McNamee's lawyers have leaked that tomorrow he will testify he injected HGH into the buttocks of the man on the grassy knoll.
How does he 'fit the profile perfectly?' This is just a media myth. The only change in Clemens game as he got older was the decreasing speed of his fastball and the addition of the split finger fastball. He won three Cy Youngs and an MVP before the 'steroids era' and four after. He had great stats before the era and after testing started. Unlike players who did 'fit the profile perfectly' such as Sosa and Palmero - his game didn't change in a radical manner at all.
He had the split finger fastball while he was at UT....he may have thrown it more frequently but it was always his strikeout pitch. DD
No, he admitted that he put some laxseed (however ya spell it) oil on. He never said they were steroids or that he didn't know they were, etc. His trainer never said he gave him steroids either. And I'm not saying Bonds is innocent or that Roger is guilty. I'm just saying there isn't any real evidence against either guy.
It's the nature of the evidence, Freak. It's the idea that anyone can say anything, the media runs with it and immediately it's perceived as truth. I'm no Clemens fan. Never have been. But what we've seen so far wouldn't interest even a county prosecutor.
Right...I didn't mean he specifically said, "I did steroids." But he essentially described the cream and the clear, as I understand it, and then said he was told they were something else.
Damn, DaDa has a ton of people on his back over this... Everyone has a right to their opinion. There are people that want Roger guilty and others that want McNamee guilty. I dont think we should knock people for leaning towards one side of the fence. Nothing wrong with assuming guilt until proven guilty. At least, that's how my girlfriend treats me. Im not quite sure who I want to win...I kind of feel bad for Roger now because he's trying so hard. But, the bottom line is that this is fun stuff and the drama that is arising for this is turning this into an addicting soap opera. Entertaining for sure. Cant wait to see who gets screwed next.
I'm assuming you read that article before posting it, so you'll have to point out to me where it says what you say it says.
Yeah...I agree. But he never made any implication like they gave me steroids and I thought it was something else. And the dude who gave him the "cream" never said he gave him steroids. I would actually say there is more evidence against Roger in this case only because his trainer is accusing him while Bonds trainer is in jail for not giving him up. Again, I don't think any of that is proof to get after either guy. It's all hearsay. So since nothing can be proven I don't really see anyone's minds changing. I don't think anyone in this thread has turned to the other side. When there is no real proof you just kinda go with the story you choose to believe....
Yeah, it's a blast. I love sports radio consumed with talk about illegal substances and affidavits. I don't ever want them to talk about sports...just legal aspects surrounding it and speculation on who is cheating and who isn't. That's how I define entertainment.
Im talking about one liar going down in flames...thats good stuff. And one of these guys will deserve every ounce of punishment they receive. EDIT: You're really getting your panties twisted over this...Its apparently very entertaining for you.
That is exactly how I feel, when it first happened, I was disinterested, but now that it has elevated itself to high drama, I am riveted. I do worry that it ends without a real conclusion, but for now,.....it is fun to watch the two trains collide. And Buck, I recall watching Clemens throw the Split finger while he was at Texas, he was primarily a fast ball pitcher but he had the splitter then.... I can not find an article about it, nor when he learned it....so we are at an impasse. DD
Trust me when I tell you I'm not even moderately entertained by this. I think the whole thing is flat out stupid.
