I have very little confidence in Kubiak. The team is flirting with championship talent. If Phillips bolts we could be in real trouble. I honestly don't think Kubiak is a championship coach. I still can't get over the team's reaction after they won the division. Loss. Loss. Loss. They limped through the regular season......Kubiak!

i've been looking all over the roster for this smithiakand i cannot find him! Cuban defect originally from slovenia?

(as long as both the battlefighting general and his sidekick, the rockstar remain together, the texans will continue to have the most balanced team in the NfL)

Can you really hold the end of the season losses against him? Very difficult to win when you are dealing with a 3rd string rookie QB, no Mario Williams, no Andre Johnson, no Brisiel, a limping Owen Daniels, a limited Shaun Cody, etc...

Kubiak improved leaps and bounds last season...he was definitely a better coach and he's been slowly improving. Just like we give players an opportunity to gain experience and improve...same thing goes for coaching. We're on the right track with Kubs.

And then limped their way to a 31-10 curbstomping of the Bengals in the Wild Card round?? This team was beat the eff up in the last month of the season. Winning the division that early is what allowed them to rest up, and get some kind of semblance of health for the playoffs. Kubiak did a HELL of a job with his MASH unit of a team last season.

He's won 2 as an offensive coordinator. That's essentially what he is now.

What an asinine observation. They won a playoff game with a fifth round rookie QB, but Kubiak sucks.

the only bad loss was against carolina, when they lost that one, they lost the home advantage, and were playing for nothing against the colts, and in the colts game, the refs gave some bad calls to indy (jj watt "roughing the QB") and then against the titans, they went with the 2nd unit, and almost won it, or at least going to overtime, and then a plyoff win.

    what would you prefer:

    15-1 0 playoffs wins
    10-6 1 playoffs win

I prefer to win them all. The Texans were better than 10-6. I seriously don't have any confidence in him as a Head coach. Yes, he is a very good offensive coordinator. The difference last season was clearly Wade Phillips. Kubiak is still Kubiak. Doesn't he have the worst record of any coach based on the length of this tenure?

Kubiak has improved. Obviously a competent defensive coordinator helped this team as opposed to the ridiculously terrible job done the prior year, but it was clear that Kubiak made strides as a head coach.

Kubiak definetly improved this, there were a lot less "what the f are doing moments?".
Hopefully he learned hire the best then make them your friends is better than hire your friends and hope for best.

I don't have a program with keeping Kubiak around a while longer, but I don't agree with adding more than a year or two onto his existing contract. You want coaches to feel a little pressure and coach better as if their job won't be secure forever and ever. I know this is Loyal Bob we're talking about, but still... just would have been nice to keep Kubiak to a max of 3-4 more years and THEN evaluate him.

Doesn't matter in my book. If he doesn't produce, he gets fired. Bob's only loyal to a point. If we go 8-8 in '11, me and you are discussing whether the new coach can get us somewhere in '12.

I can't imagine Kubiak fired after a 6-10 season coming up, much less 8-8. Because McNair will chalk it up to bad luck(we could've won if such and such happens) and injuries(as if other teams don't have them). And give Kubiak more time. The only chance of Kubiak leaving is if the team stop battling, which is unlikely since players all like Kubiak.

Of course, Kubiak could be on the last year of his contract, go 8-8, and still get an extension IMO. So in the end it's all a moot point. Nothing short a total disaster would force the Texans to change the HC.

I hope that would be the case. With McNair, I just don't know.

No, Dom Capers was fired in 2006. I don't recall how many years he had left on his contract though.
