the owner of this site doesn't like people talking politics in the basketball portion of the forum. don't say i didn't warn you. it's his site, this is not america, it's clutchfans, and it's ruled by one.
Beverley does hurt you out there. He is not a lockdown defender when playing starter minutes because he has to pace himself and not foul out. That basically turns him into an average defender as you can see from the Mavericks game. That basically reduces him to a spot up shooter and ballboy for Harden, since he is not generating his own offense. At the end of 4th quarters, there is only one reliable option for offense, which is Harden. Parsons is usually nowhere to be found in 4th quarters, and Dwight can't shoot free throws. I think the Toronto game showed how important it is to have two playmakers in the game at the end of games. Both Harden and Lin going off in the overtimes. (When one was off, the other would take over.) That kind of combination has a much higher ceiling than the Bev and Harden combination.
Another senseless benching leads to Rockets collapse — and it's on McHale, http://houston.culturemap.com/news/...-leads-to-rockets-collapse-and-its-on-mchale/
If Lin doesn't play with confidence he should be benched. There's a certain element of "Just let it fly" with every good 6th man. Against Dallas, he wasn't playing aggressive. He wasn't playing his game. I don't know what's up with him sometimes. He's bipolar or something. Yeah it sucked he only played 18 some minutes, but he didn't deserve the playing time.
Thanks, but that's just not as appealing as the cross cultural implications of Linsanity/basketball and America that I want to discuss on this board
He was playing garbage minutes beside the first 6 or so minutes. And he got 0-2 with 2 assist in 6 minutes. How much more you want?
I think Lin deserved the benefit of the doubt and we've seen in the past that he can turn his game around in the later quarters.
Thanks for sharing Caris, this is an article that highlights a lot of what has been said already on this thread, in other threads etc etc.
bump... Is Baldwin a local writer? I think I've read some of his stuff before - is he a rockets beat writer or something?
This Chris Baldwin character is obviously just a clueless AZN fanboy of Lin who knows nothing about basketball in general. Seriously though, I think it's becoming more obvious that the Rockets have already arrived at the conclusion that Beverley should start and are working backwards to justify it. If the Rockets were great at defense, then they would justify starting Beverley because it must be due to him starting at PG. If the Rockets suck at defense as they do now, well, that's just MORE justification for starting Beverley because the terrible defense would get even worse with Lin. Against "logic" like that, there's no way that Lin can win. His only "solution" is to play like an all-star from his very possession of the game so that he doesn't get yanked in favour of a so-called defensive stopper who doesn't even seem that good of a shutdown defender.
I wonder if Houston will just trade him...why not let him go somewhere else where he can be himself instead of imprisoning him under Mchale
It's useless to play Asik at this point. As much as I like Asik, when he comes on I feel like it's "pity-just-because-I-have-to-play-you-for-team-morale-sake-minutes." When he's on the floor he's like whatever lol.
