I'm high on T Jones. And I actually prefer to have a dependable back up center than another PF. Dwight will get into foul trouble and Asik is a nice insurance. The only problem is that Asik won't be happy...and understandably so. :(

You do realize that post all star break, Lin had 15 PPG, 6 assists, 44% FG% and 38% 3pt%, right?

And how many PGs had those EXACT stats last yr? Good chance none. They'd have to perfectly match up w/ 4 figures...But BETTER or at least practically comparable? CP3 had better in all of those categories, except only 33% from 3 (but everything else so much better). Closer would be Deron Williams, who had a 'bad yr' and still was 44%/38% w/ 19 PPG and 7.7 assists. Or Jrue Holiday, who was 44%/38% and 18/8? I stopped checking after those 4, so uhhh...

I also agree that another PF is not necessary. Were it up to me, I'd want to move Asik for a serviceable center who is a decent defender AND our main perimeter defender. That is what we're really missing at this point -- a true clutch wing defender.

That will get better with time anyway.

I bet DM offered up Asik/Lin + all those 2nd round picks for LMA.

Could you imagine what having that guy on this team would do? That guy can score anywhere inside the 3point line.

Don't think it can happen. First of all, we're going to have to slow down the pace with Howard and play more half-court D - so the team will score less overall, than is going to such from everyone. Also, Howards points have to come at the expense of other players as well.

Can't see how Lin will get the shot attempts to get to 15 points. Let's say he gets 9 shots a game on average. And he hits 4. That's 8 points. Throw in an average of one 3 points (+1) and 2 fts (+2) and that gets you to 11. That's where I expect him to be. 10-12 points a game.

I am more interested in his assist numbers. If he can get 7+ a game, that would be huge.

I think that is realistic. I expect his 3pt shooting to pick up how he shot it in the 2nd half of the season and maybe better. I could see Lin develop into a 50/40/90 player. That would be great. 15 ppg sounds good but I think the assists will be lower than 7 just because I think he and Harden will share in handling the ball on offense.

    Good post.

I think his shots and points will come down because Dwight will be demanding touches in the post. I actually think Lin could get his assists up close to a league leading 10 if he is allowed to play true point guard and not share the duties with Harden.

    Your shooting percentages are reasonable.

Lin has become really, really underrated on this board.

You're right, he isn't a closer. He can keeps games from being close so he won't need to be one.

    Inconsistency is frustrating.

There was a great consistency chart someone in the GARM posted awhile back. It actually showed that Lin is about as consistent as any other Rocket w/ the approx. same number of minutes -- about the same as Harden. Know who was really inconsistent (more so than Lin for sure) and had about as many minutes? Parsons.

    :)
