Pretty sure when McHale said it's not final yet, he just meant there are things like head assistants to get done and the parties have not put down the actual signature yet. There's no reason why these things will blow the deal up if the parties have come as far as they did and felt that their basketball philosophies fit. Also, there's no reason to believe either side is gonna "leverage" the situation: If McHale decided to not take the job at this point, he looks like a flake.
