He has no other choice. Fisher has been pretty clutch from 3 and we have to do a better job of not leaving him. With that said when we go small with a rotation of Brooks/Bev/Harden they have no answer. Jackson/Fisher can't hang and they don't have another small guard quick enough to matchup.
brooks has definitely taken a hit that's for sure, i don't think the westbrook injury will necessarily cost him his job, but im sure presti and the rest of the brass are kind of looking at brooks a lot more closely now
Do you not notice the in game adjustments? Offensive and defensive adjustments have been outstanding. Going small, running the 3 man play, the full court press, leaving Asik in there to shoot free throws. Scott brooks couldn't do anything but hack Asik, their offense is now one dimensional, and his game plan is elementary. We can tell you watch a lot of basketball.
Scott Brooks is not a good coach. I couldn't believe that OKC extended him after last season. I know I know...they went to the finals, but Scottie's coaching in the finals matchup was horrible. I thought McHale was a better coach than Brooks even before this series. Brooks' coaching last night was inexcusable.
It's an odd feeling to having a superior match-up at every position save for SF. Especially against a team like OKC.
Well, he's still a young coach, very inexperienced. He has had RW every game of his coaching career, not easy to adjust to him missing. RW and KD like him and that's a huge plus for the extension.
That's exactly what I was thinking. OKC has seasoned vets in the finals plus youth and athleticism? It's a tough task to coach a young team against that but we are slowly creeping up on them.
McHale has this team playing at its very best at the most crucial time of the season. Game 5 last night was the best game, also the most complete game these Rockets played all year. Everything considered, gotta give credit to the coaching staff to continue to preach, and get the guys ready. Brooks just seem lost as soon as Westbrook went out. It's the Durant or nothing show.
regardless of what happens in this series from here on, that article is right on the money. The thunder are composed of Durant and a bunch of scrubs and they aren't going anywhere without westbrook.
Garcia has actually played the BEST D so far on Durant. Parsons did well in game 1, but since Garcia has played he seems way faster than I expected, and he has a really big wingspan that seems to bother KD's large wingspan (which is how he takes advantage), but KD is getting his obv., but 0 in the 4th was largely Garcia, the play where KD was shooting the 3 for the win, and the sweep was ALL GARCIA. I thought this guy could play, but had no expectations for him in the playoffs, until I realized I forgot how much playoff basketball changes. Rotations, and the half-court O, and D become way more important. Mind you though guys, last night was a near perfect game by the Rockets. We beat them, and did well, but let's not get too ahead of ourselves. Let's enjoy the time, and the wins, and let's be happy if it does happen. No one should be doubting we can't do it, but let's just be happy one game at a time. THIS IS CLUTCH CITY!
Agreed. I always find the 'outcoached' claims highly exaggerated when the playoffs come around. KD missed every shot in the 4th, and though some were difficult, many were makeable and easier than shots he had made earlier in the game. Additionally, I dont think there's much Brooks could have done to have made the role players more effective on the offensive end. Plus, KD had a great look in Game 4 that could have ended it and Ibaka missed a point blank layup, not much he could have done there.... Even if OKC loses the series, though I'm sure Brooks will carry lots of blame, it will be far from his fault alone. The supporting cast around KD is really getting exposed with Westbrook out - Perkins is slow and has poor hands, KMartin is useless when he's not getting calls, liggins and sefalosha were never seen as great offensive talents, not like Lamb or Thabeet is a solution at this point. The fact that everyone is criticizing them so publicly undoubtedly impacts the team psyche as well and I think our guys are much more confident than they are about the remainder of this series.
If Jeremy return in this series he should be the backup SG taking Delfino's minutes. The team defense has become so much better with Bev and Brooks is too good a match up against Fisher. The most noticeable thing about game 5 was the slow pace. Whether this was intentional or not I think it benefitted the Rockets as it helped keep the OKC shooters from getting into rhythm. That's the key to this series I think, slow it down. I don't know if Lin can be comfortable at this pace at PG.
