No, Morey's analytics philosophy of not shooting midrange is a bigger problem. Also you can't fault McHale for so many turnovers that lead to points on the other end. Freethrows are a big problem too.
The key is how we finish. I hate late season swoons (see Texans) and if that happens, McHale may be in some trouble, but as long as Dwight is big on him he likely stays. Actually, I like him. Adelman had substitution issues as well. And really, the assistants are the "real" coaches.
And? Who's to say that if we had another coach we would be where we are today? Did you ever think that maybe the reason Harden has been so good since coming here is because Mchale gives him the freedom he needs?
I'm pretty sure they're both on the short list for Coach of the Year and Executive of the Year, so no.
Coaches take the brunt of the blame and get little credit. When things fall apart we're always quick on the blame trigger but when things are rolling the praise is limited. Such is life. I think McHale's situation parallels Lin's in many ways. Both were brought in under different circumstances to play different roles. Both have been forced to adapt. I think McHale has grown as a coach since he's been here but I haven't really seen that "next level" of ability to lead deep in the playoffs. We all know he's not an X's and O's guy but even a players coach/leader can have a huge effect on a team. I do think he'll be evaluated at years end and in large part based on what we do in the playoffs.
McHale is one of the reasons why Dwight came here and if we keep making the playoffs he's not leaving.
McHale is more likely to win coach of the year than be fired. He could be fired if we stink in the playoffs, though.
No OP. Just no. Why would you think that? Are you not ignoring the preponderance of evidence? What has Adelman accomplished in Minny? Knuckle pushups leading to Love losing a season? Under performing this season by 10 wins even with a relatively healthy roster and a point differential almost as good as the Rockets? Going 2-14 in games decided by 5 points or less? And you want Alderman coaching the Rockets? Laughable.
Why do people keep reiterating this? I know you're attempting to mock him but you do realize that ESPN/TNT edits... ahh, what's the point.
Because when other coaches get mic'd up they say something different that relates more to the game lol.
How long have the spurs been together in that offense? That accounts for a lot of their execution. Manu is a HOFer off the bench in that same role for years. We have J Lin, Asik and DMo off our bench. This is the first season for this team and we still have moves to make this summer before we say this is our team to try and win it all. We are overall still a young team gaining experience.
I think HC are generally overrated. Sure, the great ones make a difference. If there were an obviously untapped mountain of potential I could see wanting someone new but this team is not only tapping the mountain, they've straight up gone volcano a few times and there's STILL some room to grow. I think one of the biggest jobs he has is chemistry and this team has done well in that regard. Really, I think this year is a year for improvement. Gel. Next year will be more of a finished product/time to judge.
