Definitely disagree. We've improved because Harden's playing better than last year. Adjustment wise, I don't see Mchale trying new things or making significant adjustments from a game to game basis. If Harden doesn't play well then our chances are close to zero. That's not good coaching.

Kevin Mchale's a motivator. He manages ego's well. But as far as X's & O's he sucks. That's why I hope we dont play San Antonio in the 1st round:(

Last year's iso heavy offense was the second best offense in franchise history.

Makes no sense to suggest using play calling to create scoring opportunities, when the opportunities that Harden can create are just flat out better...and by a wide margin.

No team has missed more games from their top 5 guys than Houston. I believe it's around 100.

Harden has improved, but not enough to compensate for all of that alone. So many lineup changes and we're looking at finishing with a similar record to last year when we had relatively good health. And I would say despite having similar records I think this years team is clearly better.

McHale is so damn under rated around here it's crazy. And I'm in the group that believes coaching doesn't matter all that much and think that his ranking of 14th is pretty fair, he's a middle of the pack guy.

Again, not in the playoffs. Yes Kobe took the ball and went hero ball in clutch situations but Phil Jackson wasn't just giving him the ball and letting him figure it out every play when Bruce Bowen or Shane Battier was guarding him. Jackson helped make life easier on Kobe by actually making adjustments and putting him positions to succeed.

Man I frogot how beautiful and crisp our offense used to be. Seeing Chuck Hayes pass from the high post always put a smile on my face. F*****g McHale man.

If D12 is serious about what he said in the SI.com article, we should Harden/Howard PnR teams to death, EASY MONEY all game long!

The TRUE staple of those 2000 and on Adelman teams, having multiple bigs being able to pass from the high post, whether it was Vlade and Webber in SAC, and then Yao and Chuckwagon here in HOU.

    Easy said than done,

if the Rox will run this type of P&R on every play, Harden's leg will be dead by half time.

Ironically, the alternate play to close out the game had Donatas receiving at the high post via bounce pass from Harden ( who is double teamed ) and pitching to Beverly for the open three on the other side. That will either be Terry or Brewer now. If Terry that works. If Brewer, maybe not so well unless he can dribble drive for score. I am happy with that play especially with Dwight as an option to receive from Donatas down low if open. I think Jones can run this equally as well. It takes the ball out of Hardens hands, but if wide open then you have to take that. Milky Cereal Baby.

most of the offense involves only one or two players, with the others standing around. u dont make harden do all the work. this offense is only good for the regular season. there's a lot less open threes in the playoffs esp vs good defensive teams. we dont even have any good 3pt shooters the team. they're all average from three.

all contenders have a good playbook. rockets either dont have one or dont use it.

Sadly McHale lovers are in for a rude awakening come Playoff time. Stephen A is spot on. Iso-Ball doesn't work in the Playoffs against good defensive teams. It'll work when teams barely scout you in the regular season, but not in a 7 game series.

Rockets either let Harden get fouled, or jack up threes, or run the break. Any coach worth a damn can eliminate those three things and force the Rockets to adjust. The fool McHale has never made an adjustment in his life. McHale has coasted on talent and overachieving in the regular season thanks to Moreyball.

if you can't see the adjustments McHale has made both year to year as well as during his in game approach - then I got nothin' for ya man. If they can't get Stevie Wonder new eyes, they aren't being wasted on you.

Best season in years even while facing significant injury issues and loss of core team members and people be hatin'

I'm not sold that the 3 & D offense can ultimately be successful in the playoffs, but that is far from McHale's call. It is an organizational philosophy.

But as far as the passing/play calls/movement - I thought we put this horse down last year when it was the spurs that were the basis for our offensive system. It's not a lack of plays, it's an understanding of spacing, flow and personnel. we also don't have the penetrator's that we did last year and more of the focus has shifted to defensive stops. There is always and ebb and flow to these things.

If I held an opinion and then heard Stephen A. Smith share that he holds that same opinion, I would rethink that opinion immediately. Has he ever been right about anything? One of the biggest idiots on television.
