So what? they love Lin so they hope Lin does well. Because Jeremy Lin is playing for Rox so they come to this site to support him. Last time I checked, this is still a Rox forum where ppl are allowed to discuss anything about Rox and Rox players. Jeremy Lin is still a Rox player, right?

Again, who are those guys to dictate how other ppl should be behaving in term of supporting the players or teams they love? Are there any red books or white paper out there that new fans should read before they join this board?

    Well said, couldn't agree more.

The high-horse riding and labeling and name-calling new fans on this forum is truly amazing. Exactly, Who are they to dictate how other people should support their players?

We won the game, but its like some don't even care about that unless Lin does well. We are a team, I don't care if Lin scores 50 or 0, as long as we get the win.

(not talking about the previous Mavs game so don't think I'm saying we won that game)

Its called bigotry. People who are intolerant of others because they are different.

Oliver Wendell Holmes, Sr. described bigotry in the following quotation: "The mind of a bigot is like the pupil of the eye; the more light you pour upon it, the more it will contract."

Who's dictating anyone? I'm just dishing out some friendly advice on how to be happy on this forum after being here for over 10 years. You can take it or leave it.

There's definitely two sides to every mess. But you can take the low road and join in, or the high road and strive for something better. It's up to you.

    Good night.

Normally these guys are just spewing a bunch of half-baked, hasty generalized drivel! I wouldn't pay too much attention to them. But yes the hypocrisy and irony runs rampant at times. What's really ridiculous now is even if you've always been a Rockets fan, if you in any form or degree appear to be praising or siding with Lin you're branded as a "LOF" who hates the Rockets and only likes that one player. But it is in my eyes just a bunch of hasty drivel. Also great insight and repped!

I was not talking about you. I have never seen you involved in this, and your opinions are generally objective. I was talking about some of the "vets" here.

And yes, it is a mess.

From the bottom of my heart. Thank you.

I don't post much. Most of my posts are just numbers and stats and I leave it to people to draw their own conclusions. Numbers are what I work with and I've made a pretty good career analyzing them.

I'm far from a Lin fan, but looking at his numbers and adjusting for his inconsistent minutes (that's inconsistent minutes, not inconsistent play) he's had some all-star caliber months. I don't need a masters in applied stats (which I do have) to see that Lin is a pretty good player. But in pointing that out, it's as if I have some agenda to promote Lin.

As underrated as Lin has been on this board, Asik is much so vastly underrated. As good as Harden is offensively, Asik is just as good if not better defensively. It's harder to see that because Asik plays 20% less minutes than Harden overall and defensive metrics aren't as finely tuned as offensive ones.

Anyway, I understand that by definition sports fans aren't objective. But the level of discourse on this board would be much greatly improved if people were more objective or at the very least stop using personal attacks and labels.

    Repped for bolded statement.

Stasticallly, Asik is a top 10 defender this year (prob close to top 5). TRob is just a poor offensive player as Asik, probably worse.

If McHale wanted defense, why played TRob over Asik? It baffles me to no end.........

Lin has been put in a position where he simply cannot win.

His amazing performance against OKC? Instead of getting praised, McHale called Lin out for being selfish for getting his own shots. Anyone who has watched Lin play knows this is not true.

His amazing performance against this same Dallas team just 3 days ago which made Dallas bench their starting point guard Darren Collison because he could not defend Lin? Already forgotten by Coach McHale.

Lin as your starting point guard got you to the 7th spot in the West. Instead of getting the benefit of the doubt, McHale seems to be looking for any reason to bench Lin. This game especially made it more clear that McHale has no confidence in Lin. MVP candidate Tony Parker is shooting around 50% from the field for the first seed San Antonio Spurs. Michael Jordan's career fg% is 49.7%. Jeremy Lin was shooting 50% on 5 of 10 shots tonight against Dallas. How well does Jeremy need to play in order to earn playing time in the fourth? What exactly is Coach McHale expecting of Jeremy Lin?

This is he biggest fallacy on CF. That fans of Lin don't care if the team wins or loses. Speaking from the side of lin fandom the best games this year were The Wins against OKC, Utah, GS (23 threes), Knicks in ny, bulls in chi, Memphis, laker comeback (hack a Dwight game). Lin's 38 against the spurs is nowhere near up there because of the OT loss. The idea that fans want Lin to get his but don't care about a W or L is just fallacy, made up by someone here on CF one day and has been propagated since without basis.

The complaints the other day despite the win was a narrow victory and ugly win against the WORST team in the league in ORL. You want this team to truly contend in a few years you can't have ugly games like that... And have the kind of in game decisions by the coach.

You should care very much whether Lin scores because when he scores 20 the team is unlikely to lose, based on the games this year.

All I am saying is I care if the rockets win

I wouldn't be surprised if the rockets eventually trade Lin, just like they did to Alston, Brooks, Lowry, And Dragic. I'd rather keep Lin though

I don't think you know what the word "some" means. I'm not saying all Lin fans don't care if the team wins.
