McHale: Lawson not guaranteed starting spot [Chron]

Ty might or might not start, but there is no doubt in my mind that Lawson will play a bigger role and likely play more minutes than Pat.

If he comes off the bench it will mostly be to stagger minutes with Harden, but ultimately I think that Harden and Ty will mesh enough to play them together and play off of each other. If Ty was being traded for mid-season it might be another story.

Lawson is the starter even if he technically comes off the bench.

 

He did say KJ will be in rotation and get mins, something of those lines yesterday when he was asked about our depth.

When Craig asked him if this is deepest we've ever been he seemed like we we're young at PF, but said we have a lot of depth on the wing. He didn't mention Thornton. just brewer, KJ,

 

It makes no sense to announce who the starters will be at this point. McHale probably has a good idea who will start, but wants to see how various combinations of players perform together before making a final decision. If I remember correctly, last season Josh went to McHale and said it was cool to let him play with the bench unit. So, we don't know what Ty or McHale will want at this time. It sounds like McHale will possibly experiment with playing Bev and Ty at the same time. It remains to be seen how well Harden and Ty mesh.

Should be interesting to see how it all comes together.

Bev is the brewer of PGs. Instant energy, D, and 3 from the bench for 20-25mins. Nothing more.

 

not much of a question. Lawson will easily separate himself from Bev when its all said and done and be the unquestioned starter. Bev can go back to doing what he does best off the bench by being a pest for opposing guards in less minutes.

 

Guys, Beverley is a skills champion.

 

This is just to light a fire under Lawson since he's already so comfortable.

 

If Ty does come off the bench then his game will have really gotten worse than it was in the past. Have you watched Ty Lawson play before you post that he may not be able to beat out Beverly?!? LOL

A lot of specialists had Beverley dead last worst starting PG last year. Not hating, just being realistic. Point guard who can't create for others, how do you call someone like that? Beverley

Everyone knows he is a very poor PG at creating for other players. However, he is a pretty good three and D point guard. Beverley is not bad as long as he can play with another guard that can create offense. So, Bev is a good fit playing with Harden, or maybe Ty.

 

Need to keep begs minutes down and unleash the wolverine in the playoffs

 

Am I the only one who hopes he plays exactly like last season? I mean what the hell is Mchale talking about dude played 75 games averaged 10 assists and 15 points. Just start him already.
