I have to admit I was one of those people pulling for Dewayne Casey but when we signed McHale I was on board with it

I thought he was making a little joke as well. One of the reporters probably asked him whether his guys are up to the challenge of handling the tough upcoming games, and he just answered in kind of a funny way. No player and no coach is going to say "No, we are not ready, we are going to lose!"

Through the first four games of the season this guy, in my opinion, has proven he's a lot better coach than anyone has given him credit for. He's not afraid to abandon his subbing rotations in order to ride the hot hand, switch up defenses and challenge players.

Yeah, I think he's fully aware of the criticisms of his previous coaching incarnation. Winning means a lot to any coach. He's got previous bad reviews in his mind and is probably more open to whatever it takes to win.

That sounds right. The article takes his quote out of context.

    You can't teach mental toughness.

McHale needs to draft players who are as tough (and rough) as him.

McHale is going to prove the naysayers wrong. The guy demands and appreciates toughness. Scola, Lowry, Patterson are all McHale-type players.

I'm so glad Adelman is gone. I was so sick of his whining in interviews. Has a coach ever said "I don't know" in response to a question more than that guy?

I Know as if Mchale isnt a tough guy. 80's Celtics great come on man. Boston the blue collar tough guy city. 80's basketball in general was a bunch of tough guys.
You paid with your body going to the hole and playing down low back then. Mchale was one of the greatest down low.
