I think Howard would have killed him but to not have Thabeet and his 6 fouls was stupid, if you are truly trying to win, he should have had him at least on the bench....and active, IMO.

And yes, I think it was stupid.

Whats the difference between DH killing Adrien and DH killing Thabeet?

Adrien is not a center, he is a 6'5" player.

Yep, 6 fouls so we can help Orlando get to the bonus, take out Howard and then drive to the rim against us and shoot 50 free throws.

6 fouls means nothing. That's a playoff term. You use 6 fouls to butcher players coming into the paint while playing playoff basketball. You use 6 fouls against the opponent when you have collected enough fouls to make it a FT shooting contest and you've got the better FT shooters. 6 fouls???

We didn't need him for 6 fouls. We coulda got 6 fouls from Adrien if we needed fouls.

When you bring up 6 fouls, you automatically put him in the class with Greg Kite. However, he's not even that good because he doesn't have enough aggression to make those fouls make any kind of statement. This is not the 80's. It's 2011.

    6 fouls!!???

Adelman played 6'6 Chuck Hayes instead of Thabeet. Hell, he even played Mike Harris instead of Thabeet. Maybe it is a sign that Thabeet is not yet good enough to crack the rotation. Let McHale to his thing on Thabeet because he knows better what to do with his players.

What other choice do we have, that doesn't mean we won't criticize him when warranted though.

Call picking the roster for Game 1 a mistake all you want, but Thabeet being inactive ended up having ZERO effect on the outcome of the game. We've been over and over this.

Hell, for all we know, Thabeet had too much eggnog on XMas and was late for a pregame meeting. :)

What difference does it make between a 6'5 player fouling Dwight and a 7'3 player fouling Dwight?

    Oh wait there isn't.

And I'm glad you're not coach, because your team would average 60 fouls a game just for the sake of fouling because somehow Thabeet getting 6 fouls would help us somehow.

Because a 7'3" guy can simply stand there and bother the shot, you don't really HAVE to foul......do you?

    CASE CLOSED !!!!!

I was watching the game here in San Antonio and their announcers hit the nail on the head. Those guys are going to have to play meaningful minutes this season with the compressed schedule. Best to get the real game minutes as early and as often as possible.

That 7'3 guy will be called for 3-sec violation.

Every time somebody corners you with a question you start screwing around to get out of it.

Adrien has demonstrated that he too is capable of bothering players with his shot, maybe more so than Thabeet in his short stint.

There is essentially no difference between 6 fouls from Adrien and 6 fouls from Thabeet. One thing i know for sure, Adrien has demonstrated that he can play physical.

I said we would revisit this again at a later time. Rockets are a up and down team. Lets not be ready to crush others opinions on how good or bad Mc Hale looks this season because both sides are gonna go back and forth the whole year. Probably end up even at a 500 record. In which case he is no better or worse than Adelman still.

    The Orlando game and McHale:

The frontcourt I thought wasnt sharp but still NOT the MAIN problem. Dwight Howard is GONNA get HIS. Howard only got 7 rebounds that game.

It was the swingman combo of Martin & Budinger playing like poopoo on offense and absolute ***** on DEFENSE allowing Hedo Turkoglu and JJ Redick to look like Lebron and D Wade.

63 more games left! McHale is still getting the feel of his team.

I'm not liking his Tanking mentality, he seems to give up winning the game early. Also, chase is gone 15 min. Lee is going to get the spot. Some of the rotations are questionable. It seems like the players don't know how to set up the offense; there is no flow. I'm waiting on the improved defense(supposed to be what mchale was spending the majority of his practices improving), doesn't seem much better. Let's hope these assets will play better with more time..

This coaching staff is ****ing brilliant. Seriously. The biggest question coming into the Laker's game is how do we handle their huge frontline. And middle of the second quarter what do we throw at them? Going small with 4 guards and Scola at the 5 in a zone! First play- Twill drives on Gasol for an and1. Lakers on offense get a few offensive rebounds but look totally discombobulated. They are trying so hard to get it into their bigs to take advantage of their size that they are getting called for 3 seconds, turnovers, rushed shots, its freakin hilarious!

I have no idea if this strategy will work anymore in the second half. I have no idea if we will win or lose. I frankly do not care. It is still very early in this season, but I am already loving this coaching staff. If nothing else, they have demonstrated zero fear to experiment, be creative, and try out innovative tactics. The chess match is great to watch.

Not to necro this post but this is just dumb. First you admit Thabeet is useless and good for only 6 fouls, and then when somebody points out 6 fouls from Adrien is the the same as 6 fouls for Thabeet you say he could've bothered the shot.

Right, game on the line Dwight Freakin' Howard will allow his game winning shot to be bothered by a stick who didn't even play 48 minutes last season without getting fouled.
