When McHale plays Parsons the Rockets aren't developing but if Morris plays they are?

It's rare for NBA coaches to give two rookies significant minutes. One guy was very likely to see the court later in the season because of this.

I think most of those questions are fair, but they ask the same thing in different ways (and the "you don’t get it... Seriously?" was ridiculous). I'm surprised some think these are 60 Minutes-caliber questions. It's very easy to understand why Morris is in the D-League: They want him to get time and develop because they have big plans for him. If he's not in the rotation, which he isn't, then he's not playing much. Even more so in this lockout shortened season where there isn't much practice time. The Rockets were fairly clear from the beginning that Morris was likely to go to the D-League.

Here was a Morey quote from a few months ago:

    http://rockets.clutchfans.net/1964/houston-rockets-notes-chuck-hayes-nene/

The questions should have been focused on the uniqueness of Marcus' situation. I am slightly concerned about Marcus because he has a twin brother he is very close to who also is a rookie in the NBA and is doing well. He and Markieff have mirrored each other their entire careers, and now they can't be more different: One is in an NBA rotation and the other in the D-League. That has to be weighing on Marcus... that he must be doing something wrong.

Of course, anyone who saw the Suns last night sees why Markieff is getting playing time.

Thank God we have Clutchfans so we can actually read non-biased Rockets coverage. Solomon is a hater and Feigan is too optimistic.

You really sound like a fool when you say things like that. Focus on quality posts, not quantity, for the board's sake.

Seems McHale is like that almost every interview. McHale is very "affable" for a Rockets coach. Its almost like - when DOESNT he do an lightly heartedly perturbed "are you kidding me" rub during an interview?

Vid from the day before that, talking away same kind of stuff -

What Solomon is really doing is questioning the organizations use of the Dleague and whether it actually makes players better, it is a legitimate question.

I get why Morris is there, he needs reps, but honestly the guys that are ahead of him in Parsons and CBud are not like miles better than him, it is just a numbers game.

This is actually when having too many like pieces screws you over as far as development.

Morris should be playing at the NBA level, he is good enough, but there is no room....we have too many players to play and not enough minutes, this team needs to desperately trade 2 or 3 for one.

That Pau trade would have helped out in that regard.....now I guess we need another or guys are going to rot away on the bench, when they should be getting NBA minutes.

    Come time....patience

Normally it screws us..... in this shortened season...... No.
I think it does not look like the Rockets in terms of having no big injuries at all
Having more players definitely helps this year...... Like someone said before... we should get rid of the non players - mostly 09ers with exception of Budinger

    From the comments
Some people are just idiots. Other than Feigen, I think the Chron is unsubstantiated crap.

Yeah, I read the comments before. You think clutchfans can be bad at times...

I think in terms of making the best of things within one's control, Morey is one of the best. Its just the things that are out of his control.

I'd be surprised if anybody associated with the Rockets wasn't a member here or at least lurks the sight on a regular basis.

The same Solomon that spent weeks last year gushing over visiting team players but rarely really applying journalism to the Rockets team and players. Kevin is right.

Morris will have a long career and so if he gets a little chip then maybe he'll show Kyle Lowery what rebounding is all about.

Oh I meant Jordan Hill. Sorry.

Pure utterly cop out. This is Rockets PR at it's finest:)

If Morey sending Morris down to the D-league had anything to do with "big plans" then should Cleveland have sent Irving down to the d-league too? Should the Clippers have sent Blake Griffin down to the developmental league to bring along slowly like the Rocket are doing Morris?

Morris not playing a NBA game yet is beyond a terrible basketball decision. Not even Morey's biggest sack rider's can justify this. Solomon's questions reflect what most logical Rockets fans want to know, is the combination of Mchale/Morey dropping the ball with Marcus Morris?

Blake Griffin and Kyrie Irving were #1 overall picks, those 2 aren't the greatest examples in showing why a 14th pick overall should get NBA minutes immediately.

Could be the opposite. Feigan's the most bias journalist in the NBA. You could argue Feigan as the biggest cheerleader for Morey and the organization (him or Rosolian)

No example needed. He's clearly the best option we have at SF right now

Morris has played in an NBA game. In fact, hes played in 3. I don't know where you've been....

Morris went down to get acquainted with the 3 spot. After missing training camp, he clearly wasn't ready for the transition, boasting a -3 PER over his short span with the Rockets. When you consider that Morris has been injured all through January, and that most of the NBA season has been in the month of January, I question how you can even call his absence a basketball decision. That is like saying the Clippers screwed up not playing Blake Griffin his rookie year.

Just give him a chance to get his legs back and I guarantee, as McHale already alluded to, he will be back with the team and eventually in the rotation.

I'm sorry but what you are saying just nonsense.....

Blake Griffin didn't have position identity issues. Same with Irving. Neither does Parsons.

I think once he fully recovers to his D-League dominating self he'll join the team and sit on the pine til the trade deadline. Hopefully our SF glut issues will be resolved by then and Morris can start his rookie campaign.

Its not gonna kill the kid, unless he's dying of anticipation. If he hasn't played the three since high school, it'll be good for him to be able to get some practice without it affecting the W/L. He would also be learning on the fly due to the lockout, scrapping with three other guys for game time and spending quality minutes on the bench.

We're not the Wiz or the Clips. We're a barely above team with a chance at the playoffs. We can't afford to throw some games developing our rookies. This is when our D-League comes in handy, allowing us to play our rookies and marginal players while winning games. I think Morris would've had a chance at some time any other year though.

He's been at it four years now and the Rockets haven't done anything. How much longer you wanna give him?
