I'm excited and nervous. McGrady can push us over the hump with his play-making and shooting abilities, or he can drag us down with laziness and Me-Mac attitude. I'm on the edge of my seat to see which he provides. Hopefully, it's the former, and if he begins to spit out the latter, Adelman/Morey pull him.
But how many shots does it take for him to get 20+ pts? We don't need a volume shooter on this team. That said, If he can play up-tempo TEAM basketball with those stats and in the flow of the offense, naturally I would want to keep any player like that. I just don't think he has that in him.
You forgot the DD factor. So many people love to hate you. Might actually be the nicest thing you said about Mr. Mac.
I am looking forward to T-Mac being in playing shape (if he ever is in playing shape again) because that will potentially drive up his trade value. So far this season, this team has been overachieving - we need to find a way to sidestep all this drama and trade Tracy McGrady for some decent talent that will add to the team this season and next.
To be honest I feel like there is no way he would post this type of information without being 100% sure about it, especially after the Nov. 18th debacle. I also was shocked at how blunt he was in terms of his relationship with coach etc etc. I was a little confused, though, when he said he'll be on the court this week, but he left it open for interpretation as to on the practice court, or the game court. And by he, I mean his publicist.
Fair enough. But I think as long as he shoots around 40%, it won't matter how many shots he is putting up. I mean, just take a look at Shane's and Trevor's shooting percentages. Taking shots away from them to give to McGrady won't be a bad thing if Tmac can shoot around 40%. I'm just glad that you are not so much of a hater as some that want McGrady gone, even if he can contribute to this teams success. I totally understand if you don't believe he can, but are open to seeing him prove that he still can!
in all fairness everytime i see a stat sheet ariza is taking like 18 shots, id rather have tmac taking 18 shots with his ability to drive, i dont really care if he goes one on one as long as 80% of the time he runs with the team i mean in all honesty a one legged tmac was doing last year what ariza is doing last year
How many shots does it take for Ariza to get 20+ pts? People act like T-Mac is the only one who takes a lot of shots. When you're the #1 guy, that happens. Just look at Ariza. He is shooting 38%, thats T-Mac right there. Guys are ripping Ariza too but that is his job while T-Mac sits. Assume T-Mac comes back healthy, he can help take the offensive load off guys that aren't use to that position. His return will help guys like Ariza score more naturally instead of forcing stuff (hence the low fg%) because we need offense. I don't think people understand how easier it will be for the team to have another creator out there.
Agreed that Ariza takes some ill-advised shots, no arguing here. But, a lot of those 18 shots are wide-open 3's (Ariza will make more of those than Mac), fast break dunks off of Ariza steals (Ariza will have more of those than Mac), and offensive rebound putbacks (Ariza will have more of those than Mac). So...I'll take Ariza's 4 or 5 whacky shots per game to total 18 shots over McGrady's 18 shots.
Let's not jump the gun here. Just because Tracy might come back doesn't mean he'll be the old Tracy that was such a great creator. He is coming off of knee surgery, and he probably still has a lot of work to do.
