I'm sure if you think hard enough you can name someone who dies every year that you know. they're not all related him. t-mac should have never played that card. some were people he just went to school with.

    sorry for his loss btw.

some people use hardships as excuses why they do not succeed. they make themselves to be the victims, always suffering losses and using them as the main reason why they have not made it to the next level...I'm not saying this is McGrady's method of dealing with loss, but it reminds me of ex- girlfriends who always have an excuse...

either way, i have a new signature from this thread...

That's obviously very tough situation for Tracy. Grandfather is very important person not only in his life. I think everybody thinks the same way.

tmac never used that card. in fact, the uses that as motivation. the only time he struggled for things outside of basketball was in 05-06 when a close friend of his cheated him of his OWN money. that's why he cuoldn't focus on basketball for a while.

I agree. Tracy is a really good person. I remember when he sucked because of his friend's death. At the same time that was a przypuszczenie supposition that his child wasn't his. There are great and sad times in everybody's life. There are a lot of thing that are more important than work, basketball...

I was wondering how you guys can go? Do you just say you're a part of CFnet media crew? That would be awesome if I can go too!

This is semi-related but I can't start new topics, but on rockets.com Bob Sura and Dikembe Mutombo, if you click on their profiles it says, "player cannot be found."

No other players say that if you click on them, even Tsakalidis and Newley who are already playing in Greece.

    Does this mean Mutombo retired?

Probably no. We all know that Dikembe agreed on another year so I don't think he retires. Maybe it's just an error on nba.com

yet T-Mac has let this define him...

i completely understand why he would miss a game, practice or media day for the loss of a family member... and I agree with a previous poster who says it serves as motivation...

yet everyone here knows about T-Mac's history of losing loved ones because he has let everyone know how it happens to him so often...

i am sorry for the loss of his grandfather, and I am sure he will have a great season regardless...

what do u mean "he has let everyone know." dude, he's a superstar athlete. if something happens to him, most likely it will be known.

i mean, did kobe leak about his parents not talking to him after he married his wife and he's as private as u can get.

when you are famous, things will be made public.

The know Clutch more than they know me and they afford Clutch access to things like media day. I still have friends there from the arena campaign, but I'm just Cato to Clutch's Green Hornet. Of course, if you count the TV version, being Cato makes me Bruce Lee and I can't complain about that comparison. :D

kobe? what about his parents not talking to him? i have no idea even what you are talking about... this is not as public of knowledge as you make it seem to be... maybe I am living under a rock, but I really dont even know what you are referring to...

did kobe sit down in an interview and talk about this? thats what I mean by "he has to let everyone know"

when you sit down and tell an interviewer how every year as a pro you have lost someone close to you, you are not being very private...

it becomes an apology, in my opinion...

look, life is tough and everyone has hardships, thats life, right?

kobe did. people in LA know about this and written about 3-4 yrs ago. he has reconciled a few yrs ago.

but when you are a public figure, you're gonna be probed and asked...

so if tmac doesn't show up on media day, and all he says is "personal" reason, don't u think that's kinda wack.

he never expected anyone to feel sorry for him.

if i had to tell my professor of my college that i have to miss a day of school or my supervisor that i had to miss a day of work, i have to give a reason. does that mean i want sympathy? does that mean i'm apologetic?

no. his grandfather died. his friends died. he simply stated that as a reason for him to miss THAT day.

this time, he will miss media day.

this has no effect on his career whatsoever. people just make those comments about how tmac loses someone every year is simply that. THOSE PEOPLE make those comments, not tmac.

tmac NEVER has said it's b/c of these deaths that i didn't play this well.

the ONLY time where he used an excuse of a personal reason for his bad play is in 05-06 when he finally claimed that a friend of his cheated him out of his own money and he learned not to trust anyone anymore.
