at this point, they will move francis this summer whether it's for mcgrady or someone else. francis has now accused his coach of lying to him straight up...these two have quite a history for just one year together. i doubt seriously he'll be back, one way or the other.

i'd rather see jvg go than steve if that is the case. if rudy hadn't gotten sick the rox would've achieved what they did do this year, a play off berth. under jvg the way they play is damn ugly.

almost same as other articles but more info:

Hill says trade is on verge

    BY JOHN DENTON
    FLORIDA TODAY

ORLANDO -- Grant Hill thinks that the much-debated trade involving All-Star guards Tracy McGrady and Steve Francis and others is finally going to happen.

Hill, in Houston on Saturday displaying his extensive African-American art collection at Texas Southern University, told Houston TV station KTRK that he's been informed by Orlando Magic management that the deal should become official any day now.

The trade, first leaked last week by agent Jeff Fried, will have the Magic sending McGrady, Juwan Howard, Tyronn Lue and Reece Gaines to Houston for Francis, shooting guard Cuttino Mobley and center Kelvin Cato. Francis had a 20-minute phone conversation with Magic general manager John Weisbrod on Thursday night and is expected to visit Orlando this week.

"A little birdie told me it's going to happen . . . I think," Hill said with a laugh. "I think it's going to happen. . . . That's part of the business of professional sports and he's going to go on and do well here in Houston with coach (Jeff) Van Gundy and Yao Ming, and hopefully we're going to go on and do well with the guys we have. Life is about change and sometimes change is necessary, but sometimes change can be good. But I think for the Rockets and the Magic it can be good for both."

Hill admitted that he was sad that he's not going to get the chance to play alongside of McGrady for a full season. Hill signed an identical seven-year, $93 million contract as McGrady did in the summer of 2000. However, he's played just 47 games the past four seasons because of a troublesome fracture in his left ankle.

"On one hand, I'm excited about the possibility of playing with Francis, Mobley and Cato," said Hill, who didn't play at all this past season and is hoping to finally return healthy next season. "I think they can really help our ball club. With myself coming back and being healthy, the first pick and with some changes we can really turn this thing around fast and be a playoff-caliber team.

"On the flip side, I was there for four years and never had the opportunity to be healthy and really play a whole year with Tracy. So we will always wonder what could have been."

Did anyone catch this? True or not, I don't know how much longer I can take Wisebrod.

Weisbrod Draws Ire of BBS Fans
    By Ass-ociated Press
    Published June 26, 2004

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

ORLANDO - With the Magic on the verge of pulling off a blockbuster trade that would send Tracy McGrady to Houston in exchange for Steve Francis and Cuttino Mobley, Weisbrod continues his brokering shenanigans to the ire of BBS fans.

"I am getting absolutely fed up with this Weisbrod character," said BBS poster, REIT. "Who does he think he is? A Harvard MBA?" Jeff, (a.k.a the Administrator) had this to say: "If Mr. Weisbrod would just get his act together, stop blabbing useless material to reporters, and issue ONE and only ONE press release, I might actually be able to go home, go to my wife, and get some sleep again."

Even more telling is that Weisbrod seems to be getting under the skin of SA Rocket too. "Normally, I'm a pretty level headed guy, but this whole episode with finalizing the McGrady deal is just driving me bonkers. Over the past fourteen days I've been unable to work, eat, OR sleep. I guess the only thing that's been mildly entertaining is this one Britney video soaking in the bathtub where she....ummmm...."

When news of a prospective deal broke this week, Francis was adamant about not wanting to leave Houston, and Deuce had this to say. "Sheeesh. That silly Steve. Tricks are for kids." DaDakota added, "Why can't he just be a good max contract player and leave peacefully?" Even free agent Karl Malone, who posts under the handle sup123, voiced his displeasure. "What is Steve trying to do? Upset the balance of power? Everyone knows that I, Karl Malone, am the most hated player on the BBS. Double sheeeesh."

But Francis' agent, Jeff, a.k.a JeffB on the BBS, told us there were no objections about coming to Orlando. Said Jeff: "Steve was just being the whiny overpaid ballplayer that he is. After a tour of Disneyworld, he'll be just fine. Now is anyone up for a KFC run? Colonel Sanders is calling for you Stevie baby..."

With the growing confusion and indefinite air to trade talks, Weisbrod understands that he's making no friends in the city of Houston. "I think people on the BBS have to understand, I'm not a bad guy, really, I'm not. I just dress funny. Just ask my mom."

    Yup. Indeed he does.

the way i see it, if steve had made an effort to play "team" basketball he wouldnt have gotten his coach fired.

rudy is gone b/c he lost controll of the team. that and the bad contracts that he was responsible for (cato, taylor, moochie, maloney, francis, ect)

Or, if Yao hadn't gassed out in the second half of the season, he wouldn't have gotten his coach fired. Or if Carroll Dawson would have kept Kenny Thomas and gotten rid of Eddie Griffin, he wouldn't have gotten his coach fired....etc.

Because I have yet to see T-Mac wearing a Rocket Cap showing off his new Rockets jersey sporting the number 1 in a press conference with JVG and CD and Les. When that happens I will be a lot more comfortable.

No deal is done until the ink is dry.... That said, yeah, I know. This deal is about as done as done can be. ;) The beauty of it is that both teams really do get better through this deal.
