Don't kill me! This could be something, could be nothing. But this was just put up on the RealGM Orlando Board and thought it might be worth mentioning.

I assume the 1:15ET is 1:15 TODAY. Perhaps there was a mention on Orlando radio about this. Maybe someone can investigate this claim. If this is bogus, I appologize to everyone.

I think there would be a mass suicide on this board if the deal fell through. I know I wouldn't log on for a couple of days.

I havent been said anything on this thread, and have been itching to do so since I couldn't log in for most of the past few days. Forgive my rant ;)

You know, when all this started, I was very reluctant to trade Francis. McGrady's FG% is not that much higher than Francis'. The main reason he averages more points than francis is because he takes about about 10 more shots every game. Francis rebounds a little better and has slightly fewer assits, but thats because they're playing different positions. Trading Francis and Cat for McGrady didnt seem to be a good idea. It'd be giving up a stubborn, whiny PG that plays 110% every night for a SG with a lot of talent that only gives 85-90% every night.

But, Francis then had to open his big mouth, or at least his agents opened their mouths and started spouting that Francis didnt want to go to Orlando and maybe "wouldnt play" for them. At that point I think we were stuck between a rock and a hard place. The trade didnt seem in our favor (IMHO), and if we kept steve, it'll make the Rockets look weak for not being able to deal Francis even if we wanted to. The lesser of the two evils would be to deal Francis and just get rid of him, whether he plays for Orlando or not is their problem. A dsigruntled Francis is not somebody I want on my team.

But honsetly, after the trade goes through (and I'm pretty sure it will), what will we have? We'll have Yao, McGrady, Lue/Fisher, MoTaylor/McDyess, JJ/Nachbar. I honestly dont think this will be all that much better than last year. I predict we will be lucky if we get past the second round, and getting past the first round doesnt look all that sure unless Yao steps up. I really think this deal will not improve our chances for getting a championship next year.

With all the talk of some news programs McGrady being our savior, it makes me want to say that he's being overrated. But thats probably not the case, although it probably will take at least a year before he really fits into JVG's system. This trade is basically trading a team with a slight championship chance that has jelled together, for one with alot more potential for a championship a few years down the line. Although I want championship this year, waiting a few years for a better team doesnt bother me much, especially after a few days of mulling over the deal. For a championship next year, JVG needs to get McGrady on to the game plan fast, and Yao needs to step up big.

It'll be a relief once we get the trade done, and we can look towards beefing up the PG position :)

Here's a a question and answer in Aldrige's chat, he basically renforces what he said last night.

Scott (Dallas, TX): Mr. Aldridge - Who do you think the Suns will realistically get this offseason? T-Mac? Kobe? Steve Nash? Others? I hear trade rumors about Nash going to LA...and I hear that T-Mac will only sign an extention with Houston. And last night reports were San Antonio had a really good shot at Kobe IF he leaves LA.

David Aldridge: (3:24 PM ET ) Their first target in free agency is Kobe. They still think they have a shot at McGrady. Francis spoke with Weisbrod last night and may go down to Orlando in the next few days to meet all the basketball people. If he doesn't like what he hears, Phoenix thinks Orlando may come its way with a McGrady offer. We'll see.

Dwight Howard wants T-Mac to stay in Orlando...

Howard, T-Mac, Jameer Nelson in Orlando, would T-Mac go for that?

Does it seem like Howard is an extremely cocky and arrogant person. He already proclaimed himself as the next KG. Now he is saying his presence should be enough for Tmac to stay. This guy is coming into the NBA from high school and is going to play a Power position in the NBA. hes going to be playing with Real Men instead of little kids.
